Fender just e-mailed me to say it was made 5th month 2010
I don't see any ROHS compliant decal, anyone know when that mess started ???
Footswitch and cover were included !

So ya ever wonder why your DRRI doesn't sing like you know it should ???
Image

This is after several minutes of running the amp and the highest reading is 22ma
crank her up to 28 - 30 and hear it bloom !!!

So before you go crazy hunting speakers, tubes etc....... get that bias checked !

I can only assume beamer, Have yet to pull the chassis
You know I will be in after that pesky cheapo bright cap (replacing with a different value and type)

The overall improvement was striking ! very dull and tinny sounding at 22 ma
V-2 needs a good 5751 also.

I thought I had a spare Mullard GZ34 but this unlabeled tube is all I have except a rattling TAD 5AR4
any guesses ???
I think it's a GE 5AR4 ????

Sound bite sound good. Still have the Jensen (Italy) speaker in it? Maybe, a bit thin in the mids, due to that speaker.

Does the 5AR4 have the GE etched "dots" in the glass? Quick look at the shape of glass envelope and plates of that 5AR4, looks Mullard. Or early Russian copy.

Yes on the fake Jensen

No on the etchings
No marks at all
No hole in the center pin

Congratulations and great job on the bias. :D Now tell us the truth, are you really finding all these amps on craigslist or do you only take payment in amps for your bounty's.

OK.. prolly not Mullard. And not GE (USA). Not Sylvania/Philips. My WAG is a relabeled 1960-70s era Matsushita 5AR4. Does it have numbers on the pins (at bottom) and two seams at top? Seams are usually one big one and one thin one (at 90-degrees). I have several of these tubes. They are very good. Built from original Mullard dies. The seams originated from first Dutch-Philips tooling (metal based GZ34 of the 1950s).

Thanks guys !

Socal I retired from bonding about a month ago, managing the Gun sales for a sporting goods store called MC Sports
I find amps in pawn shops and C/L all the time, like ARJAY says amp deals are like city busses, miss one and another is right around the corner.

Steve yes on the numbers but no seams, The plates have copper edges ??? sure looks shiny copperish

Hmm... very late Mullard relabeled. Any small Philips codes etched where the glass meets the base?

http://www.vacuumtubesupplies.com/image ... ts/969.JPG

Or very late GE-Canadian 5AR4. Minus the dots.

Could also be a very early 1990s Chinese (Shuguang). Need a closer view of plates and wiring to pins.
