Nope not at all. They are fine amplifiers, but not so great that folks are going to sit around discussing them all day. To be honest for the price of one of them, even used, you could grab yourself a very nice vintage Blackface Super Reverb and a couple of nice pedals for some extra grittiness.

AFAIK the Vibro King has only one apostle (Pete Townsend) and his endorsement doesn't carry the weight it once did.

This is the Fender Forum. I did post under Modern era amps.I don't think I asked anybody to sit around and discuss this amp all day! Especially If you are not interested so why respond?I didn't twist you arm.Surely there are some that don't feel the same as you. Like several thousands that own the amp!Do you own this forum?I do respect your opinion of the super reverb but as it turned out I the VK was was a good choice! And quite a few professional musicians use it too.
And so negative and depressing! You too old farts should get a room together!

As a matter of fact, we HAVE shared a room......

And guess what?

It's filled with the some of the finest examples of Fender amps that were ever built.

Nobody's jumping down your throat so why don't you holster your dick and shuck the attitude. You may disagree with our responses (which you yourself solicited) but they're the truth.

You asked a question and you got responses. None of the responses were rude or condescending. :?:

Saw the Who a couple of weeks ago; Townshend's Vibro-Kings were prominent on his backline. Paired with his modified EC Strats (Lace Sensor pickups), a great tone for the anthemic rock and roll of the Who, but I think his best live tone will always be the SG with P-90s and the Hiwatts from the Tommy era.

That said, was a terrific show; probably the last time I'll be able to see them live (I'm not shelling out for Oldchella). 8)

Apology accepted jeffp. I think the 100 views and only 8 replies so far speaks volumes. And you are correct there does not seem to be much activity and love for the amp on this forum it seems.

For Arjay...Yeah that was a blast, and the Crown Royal from '68 wasn't too bad either! Great visit!

Good enough for me as well, Jeff. No harm, no foul.

For the record, I do like the Vibro King. It's one of the last hand-wired platforms that Fender offers and the built-in 6G15 reverb tank gives the amp real flexibility. I think the issue of low ownership is driven by the relatively high cost and under-appreciation by most enthusiasts who simply do not understand the amp's potential. Truly a tragedy.

And Tony, that Crown Royal dated to 1969, not '68.

Rawk on!

Jeff, you're looking at a huge fan of the VibroKing, right here!
In my opinion the VK is the absolute best amp Fender have made since the end of the CBS era.
I'd say the ToneMaster comes in at a very close second.
The Dual Professional was like a better version of the Twin Reverb and gets lots of love from me too.
Had I the money, I'd buy up every example from that era I could find and hoard them.
Great amps, every one of them.
Each for their own purpose.

If you decide to buy a VK, try to find a used one from the early or mid 90s.

I did buy one in March. #3648 is the ser number. No date on qc sticker/nothing. But I traced the numbers on Jensen speakers to 2007. So unless the previous owner changed the speakers out the amp was sold after that point. Sounds great,so far just getting familiar with it really.
Powdered toast man bought one about the same time. Wonder how he likes his? Thanks much for the input!

Awesome amps, Jeff Beck has been using them also. They sound awesome, but they are out of my price range. I think Fenders are the best bang for the buck amongst all tube amps. You can't match the reverb with a pedal, but Fender amps do pedals well IMO. Particularly love my Deluxe Reverb FSR Bordeaux with any of the MXR distortion/overdrive pedals.
