I just finally got a new blues deluxe last week. I use a strat straight into the amp and it usually sounds pretty good. I'm just wondering for those that have a similar setup, what settings do you use the most for a good blues/rock sound? Just looking for things to try. Thanks

I can give you a good Stevie Ray Vaughan - Little Wing (studio) setting that I use on my DeVille 410. If your interested, read on.

This sounds soo close, but I'm still tweaking here and there and getting closer and closer everyday, hehe.

I also have a rewound neck pickup in my strat, so these settings work for me, not sure how it'll sound with stock pickups. I also go from the guitar straight into the amp and use a 20 ft. chord, no pedals of any kind. And the most important thing your gonna need for this is big gauge strings. I use 13, 17, 19, 39, 49, 58. For lighter strings you could just turn your neck tone down alittle more. High action is a must, you'll need that to keep away string buzzes for those times when you need to dig in to get that dirty bite. Another thing that's important to the tone of this, is brand new strings, that is definetly a must. Everybody knows the difference in sound from a new string and a old dead string. That's 100% of this tone right there.

settings for strat:

volume knob - 7 1/2
neck tone knob - 7
middle tone knob - 10
pickup selector switch at the 4th position (neck and middle)

settings for amp: using the clean channel

normal bright - out (or off), when it's on the cleans sounds too glassy for me.
volume - 9
treble - 5
bass - 5
middle - 9
reverb - 12
presence - 11

Stay pretty clean through the intro and first solo and then switch to the neck pickup and raise the guitars volume knob from 7 1/2 to 8 for that extra distortion for when he goes all out and then switch back to neck and middle and lower volume back to 7 1/2 to get back to that jazzy clean sound.

Pick lightly to keep it clean and dig in hard for that extra bite. Guitars volume knob may need some slight adjustments, I'm pretty sure other guitars may differ.
