1999 ACOUSTASONIC PRO : THE DIGITAL EFFECTS STOPPED WORKING. EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS FINE. I'VE BEEN REPAIRING MY OWN EQUIPMENT FOR YEARS AND THIS ONE HAS ME A BIT STUMPED. I FOUND THE "ACOUSTASONIC PRO SERVICE MANUAL" ON LINE AND IT HAS MORE PAGES THAN THE MANUAL THAT IS AVAILABLE ON THIS FORUM. THE SCEMATICS ARE THE SAME BUT MY MANUAL HAS PARTS LISTS, ETC. I HAVE A SIGNAL GENERATOR AND AN OSCOPE......
MAYBE SOMEONE CAN ANSWER THIS.....FENDER DWG#0051890000 SHT 1 0F 3 REV 'A' ....NOTE #9 MENTIONS "REFER TO THE SERVICE MANUAL FOR INITIATING THE MODULE SELF TEST". THERE IS NO MENTION OF THIS IN THE MANUAL THAT I HAVE. I'M HOPING THAT SOMEONE MAY HAVE A "MORE INFORMATIVE" MANUAL THAT THEY COULD SHARE. ANY COMMENS WILL BE APPRECIATED. THANKS!

Try wiggling the connector to the effects module.

Well, you gotta start somewhere and I don't know how far you've gotten into it.
Digital circuits are generally very reliable. A connection or soldering issue is most likely.. If resoldering the module doesn't fix it, A troubleshoot is in order. I wonder if the module is still available?
The self test is usually a factory procedure, I think. Some fully digital amps have a factory reset procedure, but I doubt if this one does.
To check any microprocessor system, you need +5 or +3.3 at a nearby regulator.
A clock signal must be present at the oscillator crystal
A reset signal must be present at _RST.on the CPU at turn on.
The first scope channel on B+ and the second on the reset terminal. It should show a delayed rise in the reset voltage compared to the B+. If you don't have a schematic, it's usually easy to hunt down near the clock pins.
Scope probing down the connector pins should also show analog coming into the module and the processed signal coming out.
If the processor appears OK, my next suspect would be the A/D converter. Good Luck.
