I just recently purchased a limited Edition Fender Blues Jr Wine Red Tolex and white chicken Head Knobs and came with a Cannibas Rex speaker. What a dissapointment. The sparkle Mod is TERRIBLE! The Fat switch is almost non-existent and useless. After 30 to 45 miutes of playing the EQ goes inop. What a disappointment. I'm sending it back. I have an Egnater Tweaker that just made this amp look sick. It does everything I need and then so and it's versatility is unsurpassed. 2 fender amps in a row that went bad in a month. What happened to Fender Quality????? Glad my Strat is an American 2012. I'd be afraid to buy any new amp from Fender. I wonder if guitar quality has dropped as well???

When you find out, let us know.

My newest Fender amp dates to 1999 and I wouldn't recommend buying a modern-era model that was made after 2005 to anyone.

So why the Fender amp (x2)?

I was dissappointed to read about the troubles you had with the Junior.
The Cannabis rex is a dark speaker, I believe, and its interaxtion with the sparkle mod is unknown to me.
However, the sparkle mod is simply the removal of a capacitor to extend the treble range. Most pickers I know like it.
The Fat switch simply increases gain and your ears may not hear much difference.
But beyond your subjective disapproval, the comment that the EQ went inoperative makes me suspect that your story is a fabrication.
The tone stack is the most reliable circuit in the amp. If it fails, there is no sound.
Are you sure you aren't a troll from Egnator? If so, I can tell you stories of engineering failures in Egnators. It's what happens when you put enthusiasts in charge of a company instead of engineers.

I believe it takes a careful blend of *both* when it comes to designing and producing a quality guitar amp. That's the reason that Leo was so successful.

Certainly it takes both.. In the case of the 2 Egnators I repaired, the filament connector on the PT was rated for 5 amps. They both burned the same connector because it carries 9 amps.
An Eden head that hummed only needed the toroid transformer leads rotated 90 degrees so they didn't lay right over the preamp circuitry.
Some Mesa amps have the footswitch jack right next to the Input jack. If you misplug, 39 volts goes into your guitar.
In each case, a competent engineer could have prevented these failures.
Unless it's a Fender clone, I have a hard time having much confidence in boutique amps. I really think of them as beginners.
They have a lot of mistakes yet to make. Fender and most major manufacturers have sound engineering.

Have you ever examined a Victoria amp and if so, what's your opinion?

The 2 Victorias I have seen were both clones and followed most of Leos standards.
The only issue I remember was that one input jack contact bumped against something else when plugging in. It cleared when fully inserted.
A simple rotation of the jack was not possible due to the soldering kluge at the 4 input jacks.
The aftermarket OT probably don't match Fender tone. Other than that, they are fine.

I was quite impressed with the Victoria's, both the construction and the tone. The only real issue I had with them was the choice of the re-issue Jensen imports. I always thought Webers would've been a more appropriate speaker.

Allen Amplification also builds pretty solid clones.
