Got to pick up my new Bassbreaker 45 today. What a tone monster !

I will try and get a few sound clips going today and drop in a few links. Shades of Hendrix and Trower right out of the box, I am sure the rest of the tones I am hopeful for are in there hiding as well.

Just remembering to never trust Fender on Wattage ratings.... I am sure this monster can put out way more than they claim, gotta love Fender for giving me more than I expected.

Forty-five watts from a pair of EL34's is fairly consistent for this tube type's standard operating characteristics -- pretty close to what Marshall claims for amps using the same bottle. And 45 watts can be mighty loud as you've pleasantly discovered.

I think one of the main things I get with this amp is it sounds very consistent at any volume level. The tonal quality I get doesn't change as you move up the volume dial. I have run my pedal board through it as well and its just great about not loading down the amp and doesn't have that squishy compressed feel on the front end.

As I said, I am amazed at this amp, I feel it will be the main amp for most of my gigs and recording for sure.

 Very Happy !

It's about time Fender scored a touchdown!

They've laid so many eggs in the recent past (Cyber models, Machete, Vintage Modified, Sunn re-issues, etc etc etc).

I am the manager at a Guitar Center store and I do see a ton of amps (And Guitars) that to me might feel like they miss the mark but, I try to look it like Fender, and other companies, have a market for what they are putting out. It may not be what I am after personally but, I always view it as a tone someone out there loves. I am sure someone will read this and go get a bassbreaker and not have the feel for the amp like I do(or maybe they will) and its all personal choice.

That being said .... Damn what a cool amp ! I am tweaking it all day long and I am getting a good feel for how the EQ works and it's more subtle than alot of the amps I have but, it's very well centered in each range. One thing I love but may not is the bass and bottom end are a bit farty like a rolling stones kind feel (think Dumble) but it was very easy to tweak a few controls and it took that out.

Now at some points and some times I would really like that kind of sound.

I got this amp to be able to cover most any blues and rock tones I would need and I am able to get anything from the Allman Brothers to Zep and the stones very easily. I have also been able to Nail a sweet Peter Green tone with the use of a TC Electronics Reverb pedal. I have used a Strat, a VOS 58 LP and a Firebird through it and it has given great results at each turn.

That was my pick too. The 2-12in spkrs. I hope it sounds great with the cabinet size. Add effects.
IMO, already a Fender classic.

I am re-working my pedal board to work with this amp, I can see its going to be my go to system. Still working out which pedals are going to win out tone wise.... most every time its the TC Elect. and Fulltone stuff but I am still testing a few MXR pedals as well. This may be one of those amps that like analog pedals better, hard to tell so far.

Damn this thing is loud....

Congrats Sixtiesguitarvibe!

Very interested to know about the tube lineup, and which types of GT tubes give you your sweet tone. If you are familiar with the various flavors of GT. :?:

I have not looked at the tube ratings on the power tubes yet. They are pretty snappy and tight so I am going to guess they are '7' or above. (Edit) I took a look and they are '10', so there is where a ton of the tightness is at. I have a set of JJs and a set of Electro Harmonix here and I may replace the Gts and try a slightly softer set of tubes. Nothing bad just checking out some different ones ot see how the amp reacts.

That's just a guess based on the sound, I have to say that its all brand new so it might be the new speakers that haven't probably broke in well yet, some of the snap could be stiff speakers. I am still very pleased and it usually takes a few days to really work on dialing in any amp for me.

I don't know if any moderators happen to know what Rating they tend to use on the GTs maybe? (nudge nudge)

Anyway, I had a plexi or two back in the day and they were all over the place on tone. Some would sound great and some were just duds. There are shades of a great plexi in here but not all buzzy like a Marshall.

I think by this weekend it will sounding a bit more broke in on the speakers and maybe I can see what ratings the GT tubes are in this one.

If the chicom-made Celestions don't mellow to your liking after a suitable break-in period, you might try some Weber Blue Dogs or Eminence's Red Coats.

If I were to look at replacement speakers I would probably lean towards the Cannabis Rex That came in my Blues Jr. Very warm and great tone on that puppy. Then again there are only a 100 cool $@! speakers out there to tell the truth.

I doubt I need to work that angle though, after moving over to the EH tubes I am hearing an even better tone than before so I will probably stay right here.

I have been able to get a real nice Audley Freed/Cry of Love tone now and the Strat is starting to be my fave guitar on this baby... Fender on Fender.... who would of thought such a thing

it's funny-when I first heard the "bassbreaker" name I thought it was a bass amp, and didn't pay much attention. I am now hearing good things about it. got to start paying attention

hope you enjoy yours-sounds like a great choice.

This is not Fender's first time at bat using the "Bassbreaker" name. The first iteration was a 5F6-A re-issue Bassman chassis driving a pair of 4Ω Celestion 12's in a tweed cabinet. It was a LE amp only offered for a year or two.

I had mine for about 5-6 months and I love, love, love it!!!! I did however being the tinker that I am changed a few things though!!! I swapped out the stock celestions with Eminence Governor and Wizard speakers, swapped out the preamp tubes with premium GT tubes and changed the knobs for some silver and black witch hat ones.
