Ditto for me on this issue too - I got a 15w head at the weekend, and the amp is brilliant, but anything in the effects loop causes a very audible hum. I have the amp set up to an almost glassy clean tone so its definitely nothing from the input, and only starts when the loop engaged, so I think you're spot on that its a shielding issue with the effects loop (not to mention its placement isn't ideal next to the power input).

I've tried using even a 6 inch patch cable to bridge the loop and there was still a hum, and it gets appreciably louder the longer the setup you have. I'm going to try getting in touch with Fender, but if not its heading back to my dealer, but I think I will wait the month or so for one of the next batch to see if its fixed, as it is a cracking amp everything else considered!

FYI I'm in UK, so seems like its a widespread issue to all the Bassbreaker 15 FX Loops.

Also, someone was looking for the manual, hope this helps- https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8j9ci ... sp=sharing

Hi all, first post here!

I also have a Bassbreaker 15 with the same hum and I don't think the issue is about shielding or grounding. I think that the FX loop is placed AFTER master volume and only before reverb. This means that there is no volume control after the FX loop, so the power amp amplifies with full power anything that comes through the loop. I thing that the hum that we all hear is the background noise of the power amp at full volume...

I connected a Trio+ through the loop (guitar to Trio+ guitar in; Trio+ fx send to Bassbreaker input; Bassbreaker FX send to Trio+ fx return; Trio+ amp out to Bassbreaker fx return) and the audio that the Trio adds to the guitar sound (drums, bass or loop) are amplified at full power, regardless of the Master volume setting. Only the reverb setting changes the Trio's drum and bass. Additionally, the Master volume affects the sound that gets into the Trio, therefore confirming that it is placed before the fx loop.

To me, this looks like a stupid design flaw in an otherwise wonderful tube amp... Any ideas?

I contacted customer support about this and I've got word that the official fix is now available at authorized service centers. I'm sending my BB15 this week to get it fixed!

I reported my problem earlier in this thread. Is there any indication this problem has be fixed in current production? I have no interest in buying another bassbreaker and then waiting two weeks or more for a service center to fix the problem. If I could just buy a "fixed" one, I would do it.

I too noticed the hum in mine. I realize my fix doesn't work for everyone but, here goes.

I have quite a few amps around the studio, one of which is a modded out Blues Jr. Both of these are lighter in weight.

So I took the recording output and ran that into my time based effects and then out to the Blues Jr. This made a nice Dry/Wet rig system.

So what ever the Bassbreaker tone/sound/overdrive is producing it being ran through the Chorus and Delay now are sent to the other amp. No noise and no hum.

Easy to carry and since each amp has a different tonal structure I get a great tone over all.

Just an idea I use that may help some folks.

I had FX Loop hum in my 15 combo as well. Also a problem with two different delay pedals, when put in the loop (and only when in the loop) would generate loud white noise... Hoping this issue is directly tied to the faulty loop and will also be fixed along with the hum.

Contacted Fender Australia and they sent around a courier to pick up the amp and take it to their service centre for repair. This was even considering I bought the amp online from a UK retailer and didn't have Australian warranty, so it seems they're taking the issue seriously.

I'll give an update once the amp gets back whether the problem is 100% fixed. They said it'll take 7-10 days.

Love the amp and am posting here to update googlers like myself who ended up on this page after researching the faulty FX Loop.

I wonder what they are doing to fix this issue? The hum is a pain and very annoying for any amp to have this issue, Can't believe they even let these out... did no one even try the effects loop before hand?

Bought mine 2nd hand because the orig owner was so mad about it. I got one hell of a deal on it but I must say I don't play it much because of the hum. Great sounding amp and it's ashamed it's got such a problem like this.

Just seems such a waste for a new release.

New amp has buzzy effects loop problem, new Strats have over routed bridge holes, sad days for a company that at one time was THE quality control standard for guitars and amps. FMIC is certainly not the company it once was...

True, that. Too many pokey and sharp parts, except for the Fender Custom Shop Genuine Microfiber Polishing Cloth.

If want to buy a bass breaker 15 combo from the US:
1.they let me put it near my seat in the plane?
2.what would happen to the tubes?
The won't blow up because of the plane's pressure?

Not unless you charter your own plane, they won't.
It exceeds the standard 22"x14"x9" carry-on size (it's 19.5"x17.5"x10.5"), and 40 lbs is too much for the overhead compartment, so it would have to fit under the seat in front of you, which is even less room.
Some airlines will let you purchase a ticket for a second seat for instruments, but that doubles your costs.

And, with wires and tubes that a TSA screening person unfamiliar with tube amps cannot tell from a bomb, it has a high chance of being stopped, and you subjected to special search protocols.

Finally, the US version is made for 60Hz 120V, and does not have a switch for 50Hz 230V, so depending on where you are, you may have to buy a transformer too.
