A while back I asked for opinions on three hardwired amps. I got some interesting responses, and ultimately decided not to purchase any of the initial ones I asked about. (I used some of the money to buy a BEAUTIFUL Gibson ES-335.. once a Gibbie, always a Gibbie I guess LOL).

I bought a Fender 65 Deluxe Reverb Limited Edition. I haven't seen to much information about these amps online (I got it from Sweetwater). Its Wine Red color with Golden Wheat grill. The sound is unbelievably amazing. I tried a 65 deluxe reverb regular edition at the local mega guitar mart and hated it. The Limited Edition has a different speaker (apparently).

I went from having zero fender items for the last 37 years, to having an amazing telecaster and a mind boggling amazing amp in a few months. I guess there is room for both Fender and Gibson in my life LOL. PS: Even with a ES-355 which is usually a dark tone guitar, the music you can make with my new amp is crisp and clean.

If you see one, give it a try!

Give that speaker forty or fifty hours of vigorous play -- you'll find the tone will only improve with use.

Congrats, it's a great amp.

I bought the same amp (only mine is a Fudge Brownie rather than Wine Red) about a year ago and it sounds amazing. I was unfortunate in that in the 3-4 months after buying it the factory fitted tubes in V2, V4 and V8 all became microphonic or very noisy so I re-tubed the entire amp. My amp had Groove Tube branded JJs in V1, V2, V4, V7 and V8. I wouldn't suggest you do it for the sake of it but if you need to or want to change tubes then from my experience I can recommend either TAD or Tung-Sol in V1, V2, V4, V7 and V8.

Welcome to the wonderful world of a good Gibson guitar through a Fender Amp...nothing like it! Enjoy the wine and wheat...a cool look!

I don't pretend to know anything except what I learn here. Get rid of the GT's, JJ's and and go for the Tung-Sol's in the 12AX7 slots.

Almost as good as a Fender Strat through a Fender amp! The Strat on the neck pickup and the DRRI breaking up is a marriage made in heaven.

Just about any guitar sounds great through a Deluxe Reverb (or a re-issue).
