Some observations from the first couple of days:

-This amp is brighter than I'm used to. Could be the speakers just need to be broken in. I've A/B'd with the speakers in my Bassman by using an adapter and extension. Yes, the Webers sound fuller and more mellow, but they're also more efficient and therefore cleaner. You lose a lot of the early breakup of the VK. Again, I think it will tame a bit of the brightness with speaker break in. It's a shame I wasn't able to get one of the 20th anniversary models with the P10r-f speakers.

-EVERY control affects the other controls. I've rarely seen an amp with this much interaction. You can't approach each knob as an isolated adjustment. For example: I turned the reverb Mix knob to zero to see what the amp sounds like completely dry. Suddenly the tone was extremely bright! I even turned the Treble knob to zero but no effect. I turned the Mix knob back up to around 5 and immediately the brightness came down and the tone warmed up. It's a very different tone stack, that's for sure.

The amp is definitely brighter than I'm used to, but not terribly so. I'm just so used to playing out of Tweeds with their pushed mids and fairly mellow tone.

PTM...Nice looking amp! Sounds like you'll have some difficulty finding the sweet spots of the amp with all the interaction of the controls...but should be loads of fun!

Enjoy.

We may be the only two people on the planet with VK's! or the only two on the forum? Just kidding! I'm sure there are quite a few VK owners here. A look back to Fender Discussion Page shows lots of talk.

At this price point, I'm not surprised.
