The volume on my amp is fading in and out.. it will be fine one minute then drop low then about a minute or so it will return.. I do not have a volume control peddle hooked up. The amp does have a tubed preamp, I'm wondering if the tubes are going out.

Not the tube ,IMO bad solder , contact inside the amp.
If your guitar or wire plug in is not the issue ?

Thank you for your reply stratele52,
Its not the guitar I have several and it happens with them all, I have used different cables and the same thing.I think I will just have to take it in and have it looked at. I was hoping that it was the tubes... that would be an easy fix.

I never see or heard a tube doing that.

Until issue is fix you will not know what is is :(

No friend have a spare tube ?

Unplug tube and plug ,do few time, in case there are "dirty' contacts on tube or socket 's pins. This may clean contacts

Hey startele52,
No I have no friends who are using fender amps they mostly have marshal or orange amps or solid state amps, mine has 2 tubes in the preamp.
I'll pull them out and clean up the pins on them.
I have an old champ amp and when its tubes start to burn out it effects the volume some what.

Wow, I didn't know that they use the same tubes, I'll have to write down that European name as a cross reference for tubes. My tubes are 12AX7WC does the WC make a difference?

No, any difference.

Google 12AX7 tubes or ECC83 you'll see.
