Hi guys

My bro-inlaw has one of "The Twin"..(seems they were made in the mid 90s ?)

it was non-functional for a while, needed to be re-tubed/biased and checked out

It's back in operation now, and so far, it's a pretty good sounding amp.

He needs a footswitch however, and we're not quite sure what it is.

I saw some three button, (channel 1 / channel 2 / reverb on off).. would that be the right one?

I thought I'd see what some of the gurus here would know..

Like,, Anyone have a part #???

If you can find a copy of the schematic or the owner's manual, those documents often identify the correct Fender P/N for each component and complete assembly, to include the specified footswitch. Be certain that you have correctly determined the exact iteration of "The Twin" amp because there have been several over the years and they may not all use the same footswitch.

thanks Arjay!

and yea, you're right, it's a bit sketchy regarding what "version" of this amp he actually has.

not being the original owner, it was a friends who passed a few year ago, and my bro-inlaw more or less inherited the amp.

he's ball parking the build year for maybe 94 / 95, this owners manual was dated 94, (most of what I have found points to 95,, but it's not really clear. typical fender poor record keeping..

based on the front an back panels, it looks like this could be the manual but it does not call out the foot switch.

thanks man,

if I look at the manual for this amp, it eludes to a 3 button, so the mystery continues for now.

The footswitch GAIN SELECT button switches between the
Channel One Clean and Vintage Drive sounds, the CHANNEL
SELECT button switches between Channel One and Channel Two,
and the REVERB button turns the reverb on and off. Note: Any good
patch cord will work with the remote footswitch; however, a speaker
grade cord, when it’s available, is perferable to a coax guitar cord.
When the footswitch is connected, it overrides the front panel PULL
GAIN SELECT and PULL CHANNEL SELECT switches

It does seem that the 3-button switch is specified. I'm betting that it will resemble the extruded-aluminum type commonly found with the Hot Rod and Blues Deluxe amps, with 3 discrete switches and LED's to indicate which mode(s) are selected.

Check with Tom at The Parts Guru or Steve at Angela Instruments -- they commonly stock parts like footswitches.

thanks! that makes sense now that you mention, we saw a flea-bay auction for what looked like the same amp and the FS was in fact a four button..

enough info I think for him to start the hunt!
