Hi all,

I have a TC G-System that I am running with the Supersonic. When I connect it to the loop there is a ton of hiss. The hiss seems to go away when I switch off the loop. If I run the G-System with the exact same configuration through the power amp in and out jacks there is really no noticeable hiss. I really do like being able to switch the loop on and off and I loose this if I do not connect to the loop.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in Advance!

Yep this happens to me with the G-Major. Seems to be common with the supersonic :( The hiss isn't really noticeable at a smaller show, because the noise of the room and everything else covers it, however when we player larger venues and I mic the amp it becomes a problem.

I am stumped. It works through the power amp in and out but not the effects loop. I have been unable to find any remedy or answers. BTW this also happens with the pod xt live I have so it seems to be the case with several processors. I also do not have this issues with my other amps.

It even does it to me when I have a guitar cable from Send to Return using the loop as a boost. It's not my gear.

I have tried everything at this point and guess it is just a flaw with the loop on the amp. Its a shame because I really do like the other features and I can get some awesome tones on each of the channels.

Well after much research, tube swapping, talking with a local amp tech, and calling fender directly it seems that the amp is functioning as designed and the loop is just noisy on this amp. It is really a shame as the amp has soooo many other great features.

Hi there - Did you try swapping the tubes for the effect loop (in V4 and V5) for lower gain-factor pre-amp tubes? Some folks had success by moving from the 12AX7 at 100% gain factor for V4 & V5 to something like 12AT7 at 60% gain factor, or even 12AY7 at 45% gain factor?

Unfortunatelly these days, amp manufacturers accept eletronic component too far from the tolerance range ( 5% is the normw, but some will accept parts to keep cost down knowing some components may be far as 10%, 20% or 30% from specs). This means that a few components may not be excatly to specs, but this will introduces these hissing issues in amps. This is not always detecteable during the quality control testing on the production line. However, that all said, hiss issue is often due to noisy pre-amp tubes, but you always went that road.

I am thinking of trying this - because I also get a loud pop when I enable the effects loop. I run a G-Major so the effects loop of the head is enabled 100% of a gig, so I really need to do something about this noisy loop.

Have you got an links for specific tubes I can replace for the V4 and V5 ones?

Also, I"m assuming I need to remove the back panel off the head to do this?

I'm runnnig many modulation effect through the SS's effect loop which are connected to GLab controller and I have not any hiss in effect loop, really quiet.

I had once G-System and had to sold it because it produced lot of hiss.
What more stombox was connected to loops then more hiss.

So I quess that maybe problem is TC.

does anyone have any ideas on how to reduce or eliminate the hiss on the effects loop of the supersonic short of changing tubes out? i am running my boss giga-delay pedal through the loop. when on the clean channel i pick up hissing and even the constant clicking in time with the tap tempo light that blinks on this pedal. the hiss and clicking is only occurring on the clean channel. the effects loop is totally silent on the gain channel. i'd prefer to stick with using the effects loop on the amp if possible.

would a noice gate or eq pedal work? if so, which ones are recommended?

please help! :-)

I have a similar problem with gigga delay through buffered valve FX loop in Ceriatone Plexi 100 (can here noise in time with the flashing LED). I've bought the Voodoo Lab PP2+ as a lot of hum being generated by non torroidal power supply (moving cables anywhere near the power supply of pedal board). Hoping this will solve the problem when it arrives.
Cheers.
