After a little more poking around, the tube sockets are in fact chassis mounted and not mounted to the pc board. Additionally, there are accounts that the transformer and tube socket leads are hand-soldered.

The longer I use my Supersonic 22, the more I like it.

Yes, but as revealed in a different thread, do not take those schematics literally. Methods of manufacture and circuitry revisions are not always reflected in the form of revised documents. An excellent case in point is the SS22 manual shows a different rear panel layout than the actual amp. The power receptacle and the power/standby switches were flipped.

You are not wrong.

But to flip power/ stanby switch on back panel is so easy and do not need any desing mods.

It is another story to mount tubes socket from chassis to PCB bord ,it is a major and costly mod.

1. I wouldn't do it. I know there are some tonal/behavior/power differences with 6v6 vs 6l6 but this amp and its power are more than substantial for gigs....NOTE: I play this amp with a very loud drummer and he has his kick mic'd. I start to drown him out at 5-6 amp vol) ANY other drummer i gig with and the amp stays on 3.5-4.
2. I think it has but who knows really until you get one. CHANGING the v3 preamp tube really fixed mined even tho i changed my tank too ($25) very easy
3. ONE of the reasons i didnt get a hotrod. The SS22 DOES have chassis mounted pre & power amp tube sockets! PLUS, my buddy has a hotrod, and side by side, the ss22 just sounds better really. He said it, and everyone in the band agreed. BUT, i mean im being hyper-critical here because we're talkin about the details. He sounds great too~ and NO ONE in the audience is going to care. You know how that goes.
4. I run all pedals thru the front, so i dunno. My pedals are =guitar+LONDON FUZZ+Phase 90+carbon copy delay=AMP
5. when i bought mine all of em were GT's.....I like a lil more bottom end with the JJ's 6V6 (rebias very easy to do) & various preamp tubes (i really like the old ge12AT7 and EH12AX7/ mullard/LPS
6. OK - this amp is great for live situations but I would not think so much for recording studios. I have some hiss at idle, but you will never hear it at a gig. The DRRI is quieter. I never record in a studio so dont care. I want a amp that I can carry w/out back issues + has enuff headroom for loud cleans at loud drummer levels + and can get nasty at bedroom levels (haha) no seriously, the dirty channel can do this and add 2 drive knobs - which one is really more of a sustain knob (drive #2).
7. YES. prs cust22 w/ dragon II's. also my strat w/ scn single coils sounds tasty as well. I use my guitar vol ALOT for TONE. (my fav tone tho is my cox 5E3 with my strat and spring chicken-----OMG!)
8. YES I would buy this amp all over again. Sounds great at gigs!!! I have had mine since 2011maybe 2010.
HOPE THIS HELPS YOU~

My 60W SS has chassis mounted sockets so I would assume the 22W is the same. If you want 6L6GC tubes then get a 60W instead of the 22W. That is why both are made.
