I recently picked up a demo Bassbreaker 007 head from Sweetwater, and it's everything I hoped it be. Generally, I prefer Fender amps with a lot of headroom and clean, although I wanted something that was more British and could be driven into breakup quickly.

I decided to give the line-out a try into my Tascam US-16x08 today, and discovered that the line-out only works when the head is also still connected to a speaker cabinet. If you only use line-out there's no signal.

Is that by design and I'm just ignorant of the reason, or am I missing something?

A power output tube and transformer must always be plug to a speaker when amp is ON. If not you will damaged the amp.

To use line out you need to power amp ON so you need a speaker .

Is this answer to you ?

Right, though I would have expected the line-out jack to provide a dummy load to the transformer. One of the perks of a line out jack is silent direct recording; I guess it just seems weird to me that there's no way to use it without using it with a speaker cabinet, too.

If you were running it into the power amp of a different amp (like my blues deluxe reissue, for example), I might not want the sound of my other cabinet at the same time.

I also saw this youtube demonstration of the cabinet version of the amp, and you can clearly see him using only the line out:

It is a 7 watts head , just use a 15 watts ( or more power full) resistor as a load ;
Resistor +piece of wire + guitar plug to go in speaker output jack. No more sound from the head :)

Few dollars mod.

Just don't physically touch that resistor with your hand while playing or immediately afterward......that sonofabitch is gonna be HOT!

Well, resistors are measured in Ohm, and the wattage depends on the voltage applied.
What you need is a resistor that matches the ballpark impedance rating of the speaker output, with a max power rating high enough. It doesn't really matter whether it's a 10W or a 2000W power rating, as long as you won't feed it more than 7W, but the impedance should be close to what you need.

A power resistor is only a couple of bucks from Mouser or Digi-Key, and most include a heat sink.
