I have a new fender deluxe strat. http://www.fender.com/guitars/stratocas ... 02762.html

I was using the cord that came with the guitar. It is also new.

Is it the same volume wise in both inputs?

What do you mean by this?

The tremolo speed and intensity pots did nothing with the noise.

The only thing that affected the noise was the volume on the guitar and the volume on the reverb channel of the amp.

I'll try some tube swapping tomorrow to see if that fixes it.

Thanks again for the help.

I meant input 1 & 2 on the tremolo side of the amp.

Just because its new doesn't mean its not bad, not that it is either. I would try a different cord in order to eliminate it from being the problem.

The plus model, what card are you using? I don't know how the interface is wired or what the cards are supposed to do specifically in that same regard. I guess that you will have to figure out how to isolate that aspect as well.

If the speed an intensity didn't have an impact on the noise, then it probably isn't a bad tube in V5.
So I would only look at V3 and V4 as possible bad tubes,
Until the guitar cable can be removed from the problem, it may still be the problem. Can you borrow a good one from a friend?
With that out of the way, it could still be an input; trying the other input allows you to determine if that's the problem.

To respond to the comment above. There was the same noise with the guitar not plugged in but the cable was still in the amp.

I'll be troubleshooting more tonight with the cables.

Cable with not guitar is like an antenna = always lots of noise.

When I write no guitar plug this mean also no cable ,no effects nothing , just the amp.

If you want to know if noise come from a amp , it is very important to use only the amp.

That is why post is so long

Wasn't trying to step on your toes, but I didn't think he was isolating and he wasn't.
Your far wiser than I regarding amps...
No one could hear the sound he was referring to and I could, he was online and I kept editing my post to convey my thoughts and clarify some of the info already stated by previous posts.

I am beginning to think it is the power coming in because of the same noise from all three amps. I can't find this noise anywhere on the Internet. I live in a house that sits maybe 300 yards from a very small power plant. Could this be contributing?

The lights in the room and cell phones aren't the cause.

Im going to try the amp at a friend's house and if no noise then I'll try a power conditioner at home.

Thanks again.

300 yards from a power station, it seems to me that tends to lend weight to my first assumption, RF. I'd take that set-up a few miles down the road and see how it works.
See any Cherenkov radiation or st. elmo's coming from it, LOL!
I don't mean to be flip everyone here has felt the pain of brand new , expensive gear, not working as it should. The crazy thing here is, amp experts (like some of the guys giving opinions here) know from experience that 3 new amps could actually have the same problem right out of the box, that's a sad comment on the quality of this equipment, the manufacturer should be ashamed.

I'm using the basic one.

I realize that when the cable is plugged into the amp and not into a guitar it makes a lot of noise.... The specific high pitch noise in the post is what I am referring to, not just general hum.

I just did some more tests. Let me know what you guys think.

So I have two guitar cables both of them when plugged into the guitar make the noise. I know I said earlier somewhere that the noise was there with the cable plugged into the amp and not the guitar. Testing this just now, that didn't happen. When the cable is plugged into the amp and no guitar, the high pitch noise is gone. When you plug into the guitar, the noise immediately starts up again.

At this point I'm thinking it's the guitar. Then I get out my electric mandolin and plug that in. Same noise.

I tried all four inputs. The noise is very quiet in the normal channel 1 and 2. It is the same volume level noise in tremolo 1 and 2.

I'm sorry this is so long guys. This is my first tube amp and I love the way it sounds. I just can't live with the high pitched noise.

Have you tried operating the amp in a location other than your home as has been suggested previously?

+1 more, isolate's the power input from your wall socket and your proximity to the power plant.

From a layman's perspective I'd say after this is accomplished you can focus on the Amp having removed 50+% of the possible problems.

I would think so far you've eliminated and narrowed down the possible problem areas w/in the Amp also.
Channel 1 is ok
Channel 2 is possibly not, you should know as soon as you move to another location

Alright guys, finally some progress.

I took it to a friends house, turned it on but left it on standby to warmup. About five minutes later I plug in and jam for about 30 minutes and no noise.

I take it home, warm it up for a couple minutes and plug my guitar in. Within five minutes it was making the noise.

In addition to the power plant there is a tower out back behind the power plant that looks an awful lot like a cell tower.

Any ideas on getting rid of the interference?

Were I you, I'd be more concerned with the well-documented effects of RFI/EMI upon the physiology of humans and even pets living in such close proximity to the source of such random energy pulses than what it's doing to my guitar amp. Know any good oncologists?

Will ferrite cores work for cell towers/power plant?
