I removed the defective pilot light on my Deluxe Reverb amp but can't get the replacement bulb into the amp. I looked in to the amp with a flashlight and notice that the light socket is not centered in the hole. I can push the light into the socket but can not turn it because it is so deep inside the amp and I can't get a grip on it to turn it. is my socket installed poorly or is there some trick to getting the light in the socket/

Bulb lamp is bayonet type , push in and turn less than a half turn counter clock wise to remove.

Is this video will help you ?

A removable pencil eraser may prove useful for difficult installations and removals -- use the hollow end on the bulb for a uniform grip around the glass envelope. The eraser's beveled tip provides a comfortable and secure finger grip while pushing and rotating the bulb.

Thanks for the advice I thought this would have been the answer but I'm still having problems. It realty looks like the socket is in cockeyed. The socket is not centered in the hole and it looks like it is mounted on a bent metal plate. As much as I hate to take it in for service I'm going to take it in and have it fixed properly. There is no way that it should be so troublesome to change a simple pilot bulb. As much as I like the sound of this amp I am not happy with the build quality. In the future I may sell this amp for a better sounding well built one offered by Vintage Sound

I'm sorry you're having such problems with the amp but not surprised given FMIC's piss-poor QC/QA track record of late. If a vintage-spec clone cannot be found, consider an actual vintage Fender. Late '70's silverface DR's can still be had for a relative bargain.

I use a piece (like 2-inch length) of 1/4-inch (ID) latex hose fitted over the top of the light bulb. Twist and pull, or insert using the tubing+bulb.
