Hello there, first time poster here.

I have a Roc Pro 1000 combo amp which has developed a fault, need some advice on what might be the problem.

To start with, the clean channel is absolutely fine, works perfectly. The problem is with both gain channels.
If the amp has been turned off for awhile (few days) and i turn it on, both gain channels are very quiet, even with everything turned up to 10 i can only just hear the sound of the guitar coming through the speaker. If i leave it turned on, after 3-5 minutes both channels come to life and it works perfectly, it's almost like it's needing to warm up, it hasn't had to do this in the past.
If i then turn it off for say 30 mins then turn it back on, it does the same thing but this time it will only need about 30 secs for the channels to come to life.

Can anybody help? Is there a certain part i need to be replacing? Any advice will be much appreciated, Thanks.

Sounds like the tube (a 12AX7) is tired. When's the last time it was replaced?

Hello there Arjay, thanks for the reply.

I've owned the amp for 4 years and haven't replaced it in that time, i doubt the previous owner ever replaced it so it's more than likely still got it's factory fitted tube.

Is it a big job replacing it? Something i could do myself? I'm usually not too bad at a bit of fix it myself.

Cheers.

Replacement is pretty straightforward though you'll need to remove the chassis from the cabinet. I'll bet there's a youtube video floating around somewhere......
