If money was not a problem,
Vintage Reissue or 68 RI Custom, either one.

I've read so many internet comments about how great the RI Fender Princeton Reverb is. Dynamic sounding, cleans to die for, great reverb and vibrato, sounds much bigger than just a 10" speaker. Would you say the same things about the RI Deluxe Reverb or does the Princeton really have some magic to it.

Which would you buy - the Princeton Reverb or the Deluxe Reverb? Which is really the better amp.
Or, forget both of them and get a Mustang or a Bassbreaker.

Alright you got me on that one. Money can always be an issue. These amps aren’t cheap, imo. Even the new Bassbreaker amps are pricy, but they carry the Fender logo. To me that means something good. If I had both amps I'd have to move my Peavey out for more room. Both amps seem kind of 6V6 similar to me.

I bet most people seem to think the Princeton sounds better than a Blues Junior, in the BF tone department.
I don't consider myself a Fender blackface purist. Can a 10" speaker amp really sound good?
That BF tone seems to be the classic Fender sound.

The '68 Customs are not RI. The RIs are truer to the originals than the '68 Customs. Although many people like the '68 Customs, I prefer the RI of either the Princeton or Deluxe Reverb.

shimmilou,
And if you had to pick one? Princeton or Deluxe Reverb. See, i'm trying to pin people down.

Interesting comment about the 68 Custom Amps. I agree, lots of people's comments on the internet say they like the 68 Customs. They seem to be the RI amp plus a little more. But I understand, all opinions I've read do say the RI amps have better cleans, or better true Fender BF sounds.

i would get the DRRI as well...
such a versatile amp. more headroom to, and if u want less HR, just pull V1 and use vibrato channel with humbuckers...almost sound as good as the vintage ones, almost

Thanks boggs,

I'll have to make a trip down to my local music store, like GC, and try one out. That can always change my mind immediately. Whatever amp or guitar I think I might like, trying one out can sure change my opinion. I’ve walked out of a music store thinking how wrong could I be.
I can’t wait for another Christmas Guitar/Amp catalog in the mail. I like to check out all the products dreaming, oh ya that’s what I want,,,,,,,,,,,,,don’t need it but I want it.

Both are nice but the Deluxe has a lot more clean headroom and sounds good when overdriven.

Money is no object? IMO either Deluxe is better value in any case over the Princetons. Whether to choose the '68 Custom or the '65 Reissue it's best to demo them & then choose if you have that option. I'm very pleased with my stock '65 DRRI. I haven't had the pleasure to demo the '68. Good luck

If money were no consideration, drop $2K + on a vintage blackface and find out what the rage is really all about.

Yeah, Retroverbial
I hear ya, I don't want to knock the vintage market but I'm happy with all the new products out there. Fender's RI Vintage Amps are good enough for me. Thanks for the suggestions. I have to think about any purchase for a while.
Trying one out would help alot.

A new Fender amp of some sort may be coming my way. I'm also interested in the new Bassbreaker series. I have no idea what the reviews will say about those amps.

Between those two, the DRRI would be my choice. I have the combo and head, both fantastic amps.
