I recently had one of my two 12's from my 2005 FM212R die on me, now don't laugh, but I loooooove this amp. I use a huge jazzbox hollowbody (Washuburn HB15) and i get (got?) this monstrously beefy garage rock tone using the drive channel. Kinda bummed, I threw in some Celestion V-type 30s from my Bassbreaker 2x12 and it was like the mojo was just gone. The highs were shrill and the bottom was tight and lacked that the gut punching lows I loved.

After lots of google-fu i read that these may have been made by Eminence, but are super hard to find by themselves, until I found its successor, the Frontman 212r had the cream and red backed Eminence made Special Design Musical Instrument speaker. Luck would have it someone was selling these EXACT speakers on facebook so i picked them up for cheap. I popped them in thinking I'd be back to my original tone and nope, shrill ugly no bottom sound once again.

After hunting down part number: 0062803000 i hit up Eminence and asked what a comparable speaker would be and they said straight up that the Special Design "Genuine Sound Tested Driver" with the green sticker with a cartoon of what I can only assume is Guy Fieri is NOT Eminence made.

Does anyone have anymore insight? Can anyone recommend a comparable? does anyone have any of these laying around they don't want? help!?

The link is an old reverb listing of the speakers in question.

They look like Celestion baskets. Your best bet is to have it reconed. I had Simply Speakers do some Infinity speakers and they were able to save the clear cone. If your speaker has special needs, they can handle it.

Spend sixty bucks to recone a ten-dollar speaker?

My local pawn shop seems to always have one or two 212R’s on hand.

Get one for parts for less than the cost of the recone.
