The Russian made 6P3S (aka: 6P3C) is closer to a commercial grade US 6L6GB, not GC. It cannot take more than 400VDC on the plate and has a max dissipation of 18-19 watts per tube.

The mil spec 6P3S-E is a close equivalent of the US made 5881/6L6WGB. This tube can take plate voltages up to 450VDC and has max dissipation of around 22-23 watts per tube.

Neither tube can be used in a vintage Fender 6L6GC amp without dropping the plate voltages and adjusting the idle bias to the appropriate lower output.

Despite what you read on the Net, there are no direct Russian equivalent tube to the US made 6L6GC. A tube that can handle up to 475-500VDC and have 30 watts of dissipation. Only those made under New Sensor direction, actually matches vintage US made 6L6GC specs. Like the EH 6L6GC or Tungsol 6L6GC-STR.

And nothing comes close to the 6L6GC-STR and mil spec 7581A. (500+ volts and 35 watts).

Plate voltages for the blackface AA864 Vibrolux Reverb run 410 VDC.

The 6P3S-E can be safely used in this amp.

thanks for the input I guess that is why they are cheaper than real 6l6gc
http://crossroadsfencing.com/stromberg_au-36.pdf
What about using them for my Stromberg Carlson AU-36b
The 6L6 Voltage Chart for the Stromberg is listed like this
Pin 1- 0 Volts
Pin 2- 6.3 AC heater Voltage
Pin 3- 300 VDC
Pin 4- 300 VDC
Pin 5- -26.5 VDC
Pin 6- -26.5
Pin 7- 6.3 ACV
Pin 6- 0
I am thinking the 6P36-E might work what do you think

6P3S-E (or 6P3C-E) will work fine in that unit. Bias to idle dissipation of 16-18 watts. I'm am not sure of what class the output stage is set. Class "A" or AB1. Fixed or cathode biased. Will need to know this, in order to bias the tubes correctly.

300VDC on plates almost sounds Class "A", cathode biased. BTW... the screen looks like it is hooked to the plate. May want to think about dropping the voltage onto the screen (by using a 1k-ohm resistor) -- if your amp shows instability.

Good luck! Keep us posted.

+1

That's what I was thinking as well.
