I just got this rare Fender Princeton but it came at a price. I had to give the guy a 1955 Epiphone Harry Volpe archtop, 1968 Sunburst Gibson B-25 12, and lastly a Kay 503a. All in all I'm very pleased. It appears that the tremelo has been changed to a boost control so I'll have to switch that back. He claimed it was pushing closer to 20 watts now. It's very loud. The speaker has been changed as well. It has the later style handle on it but the grill cloth is dark brown? I'm not sure. I'm digging into it tomorrow.

Non original amp , I won't take it .

If it was all original , not sure I gave your nice guitars for it . Pay with money and keep your nice and rare gear

I believe your trading partner got the better end of the deal.

The Gibson was a headstock repair and the Harry Volpe I paid less than half price for being the reason I didn't want to flip it back online. I already have a tech going over the amp. He's a friend of mine so I won't be paying a fortune to put it back to stock. I might leave the speaker. Dunno....

If the aggregate total of what you traded exceeded $1450 or thereabouts, you got hosed.

I'd say the amp is worth about $1500. There's a '64 Blackface one on Reverb for $2k. Mine is extremely hard to find. One of the best small tube combos Fender ever made. I doubt you or your buddies own one of these.

As you prefer......

My '65 Princeton Reverb in 9.5+ cosmetic and 10.0 operating condition is likely worth $2200 to $2400. And I paid $625 for it six years ago.

I have recently seen near-pristine examples of 6G2 brownfaces go for $1500 to $1650. And yours isn't even close to being pristine.

Believe as you wish......I've been at this shtick for a very long time. And I've never lost a dime on any deal.

Good day.

Arjay

Touche, you've taken advantage of someone's kindness and spent your retirement money on a nice amp collection that sits in a room in your empty house. I hope your kids have already been to college... that is if you ever had any. I'm sure your neighbors are quite impressed with your vast knowledge. Maybe I'll let you come over and try my brown one... Your funds are probably too depleted at this point to purchase one on your own or you've run out of elderly widows to steal from.

Suggest you do a little more browsing on the forum before you start bashing the most prolific contributor. He has forgotten more than you will ever know about amplifiers, any amplifier.

Yes, he does have a nice amp collection, about 15 I think, all vintage Fender and all that he rebuilt, built, or refurbished to original or better condition. One example:

http://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=99524&p=1128763#p1128763

I can assure you his house isn't empty, his kids have been to college, and his neighbors (and friends) ARE quite impressed with his vast knowledge (not just about amps & guitars).

He certainly won't be over to borrow your "brown one".

Oh, and rest assured, his retirement money is no where near depleted.

Just because you get a bad review doesn't give you the right to pull out the flamethrower. It's against forum policy and its just rude and uncalled for.
If you can't handle the learning the truth, this is the wrong place to be.

+1 Jerry. Very well stated. I guess some folk just can't take the truth!

You know what… You guys are right. I don't know a single one of you and that last comment probably came out as being very awkwardly aggressive seeing as we are only talking about an amp. It's another thing to attack one's family. Just because your buddy has a dozen amps that are non-original (Not really a Fender product at this point) doesn't mean I should go off the hinge. I'm sure if he posts them on Craigslist he will get some good responses. Maybe his good friends in Corona can help. I also shouldn't argue with senior members on this forum. Some of you guys are really living your whole lives on here with more than 1k written contributions. It would be like denying the Bill of Rights to a struggling immigrant family. My apologies most sincere.

Ok... sentiments aside, I guess you own this amp. Definite transition era model. One fixed-tremolo input. Interesting tone-stack. Does it work? Need restoration? How does the chassis and circuit board look?

it has nothing to do with 'seniority' or 'post count'. You are simply barking up the wrong tree. Do yourself a favor and drop it. Welcome to the forum.
