In 1980 I bought a new fender amp for about $800. I got in Las Vegas from an old place called the drum shop. The salesmen told me this was the first hybrid tube/solid state amp that fender made. I really loved it however it was stolen about 20 years later.I have been looking find one to replace it but I haven't even found a reference to one. It was a Fender Concert Twin. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to look or where I can find info about that model? Thanks in advance for any help.

Never heard about this amp made by Fender .

The only ( Fender ) Concert Amps in 1982 - 1985 and 1993 - Present are all tubes amps.

In 1982 Fender made it part of the " II" ( two) series available in 4 x10 , 2X10 and 2X 12

All tubes amps

Did you talk about Music Man amps made by Leo Fender ?
These are hybrid but not with the name Fender

Nor I.

The only tube/transistor platform that I know of which Fender made was the Rock Pro series (700 and 1000), about fifteen years ago.

No it was a Fender, I got that hybrid info from the salesmen so he was probably wrong(or just full of it), but it sounded great! Strangely I just found one while surfing. I had been searching for Fender Concert Twin , with no results, but got a hit with Concert II $700, also found one saying "restored. new custom cabinet, new fabric, tubes, NOS faceplate and knobs Celestion speakers". Doesn't sound like a Fender Amp anymore, guess its a designer knockoff.lol,

Do these look like "designer knockoffs"......?

And guess what? They sound just like the restored Fender amps they are.

There are plenty of folks out there doing credible restorations.

IIRC the Concert Amp was available in a number of specific combo configurations (1 x 12, 1 x 15, 2 x 10, 4 x 10) plus a stand-alone head. I wouldn't deem it to be a "low budget Super Reverb" but more like a competitor to the high-gain Mesa Boogie's that were becoming popular at the time. Thus, they were plenty loud and produced some nice saturated OD tones, but lacked the über-cleans of a true Fender blackface. They were hand-wired and the build quality was quite high.

I forgot to say the one I had is a Blackface Concert Amp, not the "II" serie

No problem.

Restorations, if skillfully executed, can often look just as authentic as an original untouched vintage amp. It's the effect I strive for with every project I take on.

Look anything like the amp on the far right?

Image

If so, you have a 2x10 Concert. These amps were built between 82-85. I have owned the one pictured since '84 when I bought it new. The amp was built during the Rivera era and was produced to compete with the Mesa amps of the day and has a cascading preamp. They were very well built and would have to agree with Arjay about their distortion tones being tasty, but the clean tones didn't quite sound as good as their blackface cousins. Mine has held up very well since '84 and is certainly a great amp to gig with.
