No doubt the bassman 10's were weird ducks !
but the 50 watt earlier model has a lot of potential
especially if you have a gig where you can keep your gear there all the time
These dudes are Heavy ! and awkward as the day is long

Nice well-built chassis can help the amp's life. Someone said this helps dissipate heat more evenly & keeps the tranny aligned better --- under heated conditions. Heavy trannies = good amp life, too.

Dunno, but it seems to be true. Even with vintage hi-fi amps.

Fortunately, this one has casters.
The vents on the side were not a a surprise after I measured 67 watts@ 4ohms. Lotta heat there.
They seem like a weak point. There's only 1 1/4 of wood between the rear and the vents. 3" in the front. It seem like if it fell over and hit something it would break.
It does have an ultralinear OT to push the power, but it's not oversized.
HiFi amps have large OTs for good low end response, but small OTs are good for guitar tone. The small core saturates with bass at about 20% power and chokes off the low end harmonics that argue with the bass player. In this way, it reserves more power for the mids.
But if you need more power, a larger core can accomodate a larger diameter wire. This lowers the primary winding resistance, a controlling factor in power output. More bass comes along for the ride.
The stamped steel chassis is a better shielding material, but aluminum dissipates heat better.
The steel can also create eddy currents from induction, although Fenders don't seem to suffer from it.
