As my last thread detailed, I had thought I was getting a '74, but it turned out to be a '76, meaning that it has a master volume, BUT it has a tube rectifier, non ultra linear transformers and CTS Alnico speakers (all 4 in plum bronze!!!) It has all Sylvania tubes in it, and the amp is as cherry as they come. Has the OG footswitch, the amp cover, amp schematics, and owners manual. It was very late when I got it, so I have yet to give it a real hard test, but so far, tone-wise I'm very happy. I believe everything is all original and nothings been altered whatsoever. The chassis serial number is A 76399, the transformer numbers are 606-5-04 (022699 also), 606-4-36 (022855 also), L022768 CS4 82-696 422, and 022921 (606516).
All the speakers are numbered 064121 137 7505.

Super Reverbs are very cool amps.

I Like its huge tone, with tight bass and superb mids.

Congrats 8)

ps. Did I mention it has one of the best reverbs ever ... so lush!

What surprises me is how late it is in the Super's make, yet it still has the earlier pointing CTS Alnico speakers. Today I give it a full run and I'm sure to be pleased! Btw, if anybody wants to see more detailed pics or has questions about the amp, just say so.

Nice purchase! I'd be interested in photos of the circuit --- when you get a chance to pull the chassis.

BTW... do the 6L6GCs looks like the ones in the photo? These are the famous Sylvania STR-387 versions. Built to take 700VDC on the plates.

They definitely do look like those Sylvanias! Wow, even the tubes in this thing are classic. I put an SG into it, to test the darker waters, got it to about mid 4 and got some nice creamy break up, just barely overdriving, it sounded sweet! The reverb on this is so lush and beautiful, I really couldn't be any happier with this amp. I think I got a pretty sweet deal here. I'll have to take some chassis shots when I get home and crack it open finally.

Congrats on scoring a Super Reverb. These are great amps and as you have found out, the reverb in these is quite lush. I had a '73 SR with those same CTS Alnicos and they are some of the best sounding speakers and seem ideally suited to the SR.

May you have a long run together.

Pretty nice condition. Seems all original parts and wiring. Including a balance (or hum) pot not bias pot. Do you have photos or the caps under the doghouse?

Look like these?

As stout as those aluminum-hulled electrolytics are, at 37 Y/O they're well past due for replacement.

I'll be sure to open up the "doghouse" when I get home and post up pictures of the electrolytics. But regardless of condition, I'm going to have the amp serviced by Uncle Spot within the next 2 or 3 months, also I'm strongly considering having it Blackfaced by him, it's a specialty of his. Would you do this modification as well? How does this affect the value? Positively or negatively?

I set my drip edge DR back to blackface (AB763) for a couple of reasons.

1.) Bias control pot.

2.) Blackface voltages on the phase inverter plates.

3.) 220k-ohm grid-to-ground resistors on the 6L6GCs.

4.) You may want to remove the ultra-linear taps off the output tranny. And go back to blackface style voltage source for the screen resistors.

This is a 45 watt, non ultra linear model, it has a tube rectifier
