I'm trying to date my Fender Bassman 212 cabinet. It is stamp ND4653 on the divider. Cabinet measures 32x20x11 1/2 in size. I got it from a friend a long time ago with only one working original (I believe) Jensen speaker labeled C12N C8303-3 & 220645.

If the Jensen speaker is original to the enclosure, that puts the cab's "birthday" sometime after the 45th week of 1966, which is consistent with the years that Fender produced the small-box Bassman's. They were discontinued late that year or possibly in January of '67. I suspect you're interpreting that other stamped date incorrectly (a photo would help).

To post a photo. Go to Photobucket. Or some online site to share media. Upload your photos.

For Photobucket:

1.) Click onto photo you wish to post. See "Links to Share The Photo" on the right side?

2.) Now, scroll your mouse (the computer's mouse :lol: ) over the IMG address window.

3.) Left click onto address window.

4.) It will say: "Copied"

5.) Now, paste the copied IMG address into the window of this Forum.

6.) So... this:

{URL=http://s1191.photobucket.com/user/BMW2002Ti/media/IMG_0397.jpg.html]{IMG}http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z461/BMW2002Ti/IMG_0397.jpg{/IMG}{/URL}

7.) Becomes this, when the { } that I placed into address line is kept as the original [ ]:

The pics help and Arjay got it nailed right. It is a '66 cab and from the construction on the inside looks to be in good shape. A little clean up on the tolex and legs and you got a nice piece there.

Now you just need to slap a couple nice old Jensen's in there and get it hooked to a head unit, then wail away!

Thanks, that's the plan basically, though I don't have the head. He traded that for a guitar. It has a few other outer shell issues from being lugged around, but nothing major. Plus some splashes/splatters of latex paint on the top. My buddy must have painted a room and not bothered to move it out of the way. I can't complain it was given to me. Thanks for the help in confirming my thoughts on the age of the cabinet. I'm eye-balling a 57 Deluxe that I hope to purchase from another friend's brother in law. Cabinet has been altered from original tweed and amp needs some minor work but sounds good. Wish me luck, waiting on the phone call for my offer. Thanks again.

You might lay a tape measure across the amp-head anchors to confirm that it's a Bassman cab and not a Bandmaster. Center-to-center spacing for the Bassman is 22-7/8" while the Bandmaster measures 24-3/4". The tilt-back legs if original should be marked "PATENT PENDING" and one of them may display a stamped serial number formatted as "M-XXXXX".

Measures 22 7/8 (Bassman) and serial number on leg is M27561...
I was also wondering if anyone can HELP with the ohm of the Jensen speaker. I asume it's an 8 ohm. The numbers on the speaker are C12N C8303-3 and 220645... The cone is stamped 3012B16N3. There is no ohn stamp on speaker as I have seen on in photos searched.. Like I stated before it only has the one speaker. The other speaker was removed after someone smoked it.
He will remain nameless for he is the same idividual who's brother pawned my 63 deluxe reverb when I loaned it to the nameless person for a gig. Took me 6 months to get the truth out of him, by then it was too late. Ah, water under the bridge.

Your Jensen speaker is likely not original to the cab. Twelve-inch Jensens made for Fender Bassman's and Twin Reverb's were the C12NA variant and were marked with the customer number of "C8220 5" denoting FMI. In the fall of 1966 Fender insisted on a new gold/brown label for the magnet of all Jensens that read "Fender Special Design" with only a small mention of Jensen in very tiny lettering.
