actually guys the green is fader lube/cleaner
Its very blue/green
I'm beginning to doubt the problem is in the switch ??? however rocking your thumb does cause the meter to jump so........ who knows
I have manipulated the contacts about as much as i dare to, I tried the fader lube cleaner as I'm out of deoxit for the moment.

Fader lube is not a contact cleaner.

It may be good if you use after using contact cleaner with no lubricant

I know, i used it after the cleaner (radio shack cleaner lube) that i ran out of.
Gotta find some real deoxit locally !

Radio shack cleaner is only good to stay on the shelf . It is day and night with good cleaner.

Chance is your contacts is always dirty and more dirty with the lubricant = mud

Chris,

You should not have that much cleaner or Deoxit left on the switch after you've thoroughly cleaned the contacts. Wipe up all excess. If you need a permanent lubrication --- I use a little silicone grease or a fine layer of Moly on shafts --- try to keep excess off the contacts.

Good luck! I hope you can save that switch. I've seen ppl save old car switches on restorations. Really, it can be the only solution --- if you want to keep the thing as original as possible. Lot of new issued parts just don't work well or look right.
