It came yesterday. It's an Avatar 16 cube with ported back and insulation inside. It weighs about 30 pounds and seems to be pretty heavy plywood. It has a 1 x 12 4ohm speaker in it. Speaker is an Eminence Delta Lite 2512. Bought this for about $250. I was looking for something with modern construction/speaker but with a vintage look that would go with the Bassman 50 head.

How does it sound?

Avatar builds a pretty solid enclosure, some of the best cabs in the business.

I haven't had a whole lot of time to mess with it so far- just put it back together tonight. I needed a new speaker cable to link the head to the cab. I got a 14 gauge cable at Guitar Center this evening.

I also built a "dim bulb tester" to check for any shorts or issues- no sign of any problem when I put it through the tester. I checked the inputs and pots/switches, and everything functioned.

I then put the the head back together and hooked up to the cab. I only got to play around with it for about 10 minutes after putting it back together. It has a very warm, fat sound with the Bass VI and P-Basses I have. It definitely is an older-style amp. It has a lot of low end. It also has a warm, sort of gritty sound. It's not overdrive or fuzz, but it doesn't have that "super clean" or "almost hi fi" sound that some of the modern bass amps have. I like it so far.

I also tried it with a P-90 Les Paul Special, but I didn't like it quite as much as with the basses. I have a Jazzmaster I will try it with at some point. I think this AA371 circuit may truly be a bass amp, which I like. I have a Vibro Champ I like for guitar as it is.

I have no clue of the condition of the preamp tubes. They look either original or old stock- all are Made in USA tubes, most of them Sylvania.

It basically looks like a mini-piggyback rig.

I'm thinking that Delta Elite is likely optimized for bass instruments so it's not surprising that it doesn't do so well with a guitar. Very few bass speakers work convincingly for a six-string application (your Bass VI notwithstanding).

I think that is pretty much on target. I tried it with my Vibrochamp to see if it was the speaker that didn't like guitar, and same result- muddy tone with guitar, needing to have the bass knob rolled way back on the amp. Definitely a bass speaker, but a good sounding one for that.
