1967 Fender Princeton Reverb for $2800 !!!

Non-original Grillcloth, added Metal Corners, replacement speaker, scratched Faceplate, obvious, non-original modding (see spare parts bag), no Footswitch, no Cover, No Literature ! This amp is maybe a 6/10 and that's a big MAYBE...

I write the guy saying that $2800 is waay too optimistic, that a pristine example would be hard-pressed to sell for half that. That in my estimation, this amp belongs in the sub-$1000 category.

Guy writes me back saying; "Yea... it's waay optimistic, but you gotta go for it ! It's possible that there's one guy out there who'll pay that..." :x :x :x

What a World out there... It too often seems that the wrong people get Cancer.. !!

CAVEAT EMPTOR Baby !!

cheers!

Today's "tragedy du jour".

Someone like myself could save it, of course......but I know what I'm doing.

:(

True that... !!

But the only way a '67 Silverface Princeton Reverb is worth anywhere near $2,800 would be if it was pristine, had the Cover, Footswitch, Hang Tag and Literature... PLUS, Charlise Theron sitting naked on it whispering: "You're the One..." and then only maybe...

Top money for an SFPR is more in the $1600 range. Of course, provenance will add to that, but it needs to be very well-documented.

My early '73 (before they cheapened cabinet construction) is pristine, has the Cover and Footswitch, plus the original Hang Tag, Owners Manual, Schematic and Warranty Card (and I paid <$800 for it):

One of the things which drives prices of the Blackface Amps is their relative scarcity. FEIC production was almost Cottage-Industry like. But, once CBS got into full swing, the workforce doubled and they started grinding out the Silverfaces like link sausages. Pick any year of the Blackface era and you'll find by comparison that CBS produced at least twice (probably closer to three times) as many in any given year '68 onwards.

cheers!

Utah's parent company was Whammo, who also made the Frisbee.

The two products are of similar design.

It may be the original spec'd speaker, but according to the listing, it's a replacement.

I'm gonna track it thru my Watch list to see if it sells. I'm gonna bet on Mankind... that there isn't anyone foolish enough to pay that price.

We'll see...

cheers!

Not the original speaker? And he replaces it with a Utah? With idiots like this out there, I am not sure I would bet on "Mankind"!

THE REAL THING!

Except for a few minor things...

Speaker cloth is not original
•Corner protectors are not original
•Screws attaching back covers are not original
•Speaker is not original
•Bottom of case had casters previously attached
•No vibrato or reverb pedals
•Volume knob sounds scratchy when turned up/down while power on
•No printed materials remain with amp

And only $2800? Amazing!!!

"I am not an expert in Fender Amps, I have taken photos of the amp and its major component parts. I have done some research on the Fender forums. I will gladly answer questions, but if you have technical knowledge of vintage Fender amps, you already know what you're looking at. I probably can't answer deeply technical questions."
