Hi
My Dad has an original 65 Vibrolux Reverb I've been working on. He said the tubes were tested just before he stopped using it about 15 years ago and were all fine.

A guy locally is offering me some spare lightly used tubes and I'm not sure if there worth buying. Being new to the forum:
A. Can use these particular 12AX7 and 12AT7 tubes for his amp.
B. Are the tubes a good deal.
C. If some of the tubes are o.k. to use for the amp, would I be able to sell the others I don't need?

Here's a list of the 16 tubes he has for $130($105US).
2X 12AX7 Chinese (higher gain)
1X ARS 12AX7 Chinese
3X JJECC83S
4X Sovtek 7025/12AX7WA
1X Sovtek 7025/12AX7WB
2X EH12AX7
1X EH12AT7
1X Ruby12AX7
1X GT12AX7

He also has 19 tubes for $100($80US):
1X Phillips 12AT7/ECC81
1X Sylvania 12AU7A
1X Sylvania 12AT7
1X Admiral 6JD6
1X Realistic(USA) 12AU7A
1X 12AX7A?
1X GE 6EU7
1X SCM Hotrods 12AX7
1X Telefunken ECC83/12AX7
2X Telefunken ECC82
1X Telefunken?
1X Telefunken EFB84
1X Siemens?
1X Hammond 6BQ5/EL84
2X Telefunken EL84
1X Westinghouse 6CA4
1X Orange EL84

And for $125($100US) these 13 tubes are mostly matched pairs:
2X Groove Tubes GT-EL34C
2X JJ EL-34L
2X JJ EL-34L
2X JJ EL-34
2X JJ 6V6S
1X JJ EL-34
1X Sovtek EL-34
1X Mullard EL-34

I think he would take $300 for all of them. Is it worth buying all of them?
Thanks.

There are several tube types within batch #2 and #3 for which you'll have absolutely no use (as replacements for a Vibrolux Reverb).

You only need these......

GZ34 (rectifier x 1)
6L6GC (power amp x 2)
7025 (pre-amp x 3, 12AX7 may be substituted)
12AX7 (pre-amp x 1)
12AT7 (pre-amp x 2)

Frankly, I'd pass on the entire lot.

Arjay

Thanks Arjay. I'll pass on them.
