How much break-in time did you allow the Weber?

I played it for about 40 to 60 hrs at least. There was nothing wrong with the weber, it's a great speaker. I just think the alnico is more true to the Broncos character, if you know what I mean.

You may change your mind so keep the Weber in your stash.

It's amazing at what level the OEM speakers starts to distort. I use a spare to test amps. And a 1-watt DIY amp will overdrive it. Maybe, at level 8 out of 10.

:)

The one I have doesn't distort that quick but maybe that's why I like it. It was a VERY loud 5 watt amp with the weber, and breakup occurred late in the volume. I guess the alnico breaking up earlier and it's lower db rating make it bearable in a living room/practice environment, for all who near.
:D

+1

The lower a speaker's efficiency (SPL) the harder you can drive the amp without raising the dead. In some scenarios (such as the one you've described) that's desirable.

Now I know what all the fuss is about having to replace the cap can, major hemerrhoid.

These are cheap and make quick work of multi-can cap replacement. 40 watts is plenty with the tip that's on it.

Cool, thanks for the tip...literally.

I still haven't added a cap can iron to my bench, maybe it's time.

Joined the Bronco club today via online auction and looking forward to taking it for a ride.
Also have a bid in for a 71' SF Super post auction, it was just to cheap.

Very cool! I kinda like the red lettering on the Bronco amps.

Looking forward to seeing the photos. :)

For soldering / removing anything soldered directly to a chassis, there's nothing better then a 260w Weller soldering gun.
