Just wanted to share my latest Fender aquisition. Early signs indicate it's a '74 Bronco, but I'll be taking it apart for a full inspection.

Looks like stock Oxford 8ev speaker, 5y3gta, Raytheon 6v6gty, & a couple of RCA 12ax7's. I'll be looking at a speaker replacement for sure as the Oxford is pretty much done(low output and buzzes at higher volume levels).

Can't wait to get it in tip top shape. :D :D

Based on the orange-stripe grill cloth, a 1974 build date is a distinct possibility.

Nice score!

Amp looks like it was never used. I like the red lines used on the control panel. I have a Weber 8F150 in my Bronco. Very efficient speaker. The CE 20/20/20 at 525VDC multi-cap can is the one to use, if you need a replacement. The Weber just fits the amp with this replacement can.

Congrats! You are going to love this amp.

8F150 in a Vibro-Champ. Same dimensions as the Bronco:

Remember that the Bronco, as with the Champ and Vibro Champ, require a four-ohm speaker for proper output coupling.

Very nice score, and a clean one for sure!

Might suggest a Kendrick Blackframe for it. These speaker have good definition when played clean and when you crank the amp it gets a rich tone when driven hard. I have one in my 68 Champ and it really brings the amp alive.

They cost a little bit more than a weber, but worth it IMHO.

Thanks everyone. I'll definitely take all your suggestions into consideration.

Steve,
I noticed that those CE cap cans have a +50% tolerance. So there's a possibility that I might end up with a 60/30/30 cap can. What's your opinion on this? Have you or anyone ever had any bad experiences with this cap can?

On another note, this amp will be a player, so would it be better to leave the original cap can unmolested and instead go with three individual axial lead caps (f&t)? I would un-solder the leads going to the cap can and mount the three caps inside the chassis.

Thanks

Use a good 5Y3GT (I like mil spec types) and you'll be ok. Cap cans have higher tolerances than single 'lytics. But, even the best single 'lytic is still around +/-(10-15%).

The slow-startup 5Y3WGT are the best tubes. AKA: 6087 (usually GE made) or 6106 (Bendix made). BP 1950 GE 5Y3GT are the best consumer-type rectifiers of this type.

No,follow BMW advice , do a good job the first time with the CE cap can . Keep old cap can for the next buyer .
Single caps inside may look poor job and not easy to hold them safely .

To you $35 for this cap may look to much money if you think about cheap IC Ilinois caps at $2 each wich they are no good for a great amp like your's.

I thought about it an you guys are right, if you're gonna do something, do it right the first time. I just pulled the chassis and found this. Just doesn't look right. Thanks again, will post pics again once it's all done.
Quick question, since the amp already has the three prong power cord is it just a matter of snipping/desoldering the "death cap"?

+1000

Ditch that IC junk and go with the CE cap can.

Deep-six the death cap as well.

Cool.

Deep six the death cap, check.
Order weber 8f150, check.
Order CE 40/20/20 cap, check.

Wil report back with results and pics when completed.

Thanks again for everyone's advice and suggestions.
