Hi. New to the forum. I have a 1983 Concert II (Rivera Era) combo. I need to replace the on/off power toggle switch. Does any one know how to access the switch to change it? Is the switch soldered or push-on type? Does anyone know the part number or of a Fender-like replacement?

Thanks.

I own one of these amps (an 84 2x10 version) and you have to remove the amp from the cab to access the switch. Here is a replacement for what you need.

http://www.angela.com/fendercarlingampl ... witch.aspx

This company is very good, and I only good things to say about their service and quality of parts.

T2Stratman,

I don't know if I am up to removing the amp from the cab, but I will take a look at it. Unfortunately there are no amp techs within 100 miles of here. Thanks for the parts link and the info on the switch replacement. Most helpful!

If you got a screwdriver you can remove the amp from the cab. Just remove the tubes first and keep track of which ones went where. The amp sits in a tray and slides out once you have the screws all removed. The actual switch simply unscrews from the faceplate and the wires are soldered to the switch. You should be able to do this with common tools and a decent soldering iron.

You show a SPDT switch as use on many Fender amps.

Amp schematic show a DPDT switch like this one ;
http://www.angela.com/fendercarlingampl ... tch-2.aspx

The power switch on the amp is not original ( see photo ) . Switch look SPDT available in many hardware store , Home Depot , Lowes, Radio Shack .IMO amp wiring could be modified to use SPDT switch .

You could use DPDT on both wiring if not sure , Angela write both switches are same size

Check if fuse at the back panel is the right one , often people put too powerful fuse and the amp is not protected .

You just need somebody who know how to solder 2 or four wires.
Any TV repairman in town ? You don't need to got to Music store for this easy job . Ask around you , Radio shack ......

You may have to bring only the chassis not all the amp .

Why don't you learn how to solder ? They may have some video ou YouTube .

I think it's worth giving a try. I work with a guy who really good with soldering and some electrical. Once I get the assembly out I'm sure we can figure out how to replace the switch. Thanks for the info on the switch. I can see this forum is good source of info on fender amps.

Thanks Stratele52, yeah I did misread that one! It should be a DPDT. And that on/off switch most definitely is not original and should be replaced with the proper one.
