Seen on SF 1968 Showman and Bandmaster Reverbs? Like TFL-5000D and TFL-5005D? Other than "Too Frickin Loud."

Thanks!

The TFL is an acronym for Teflon... the 1st Fender Amp to use only Teflon insulated wire (as opposed to cloth).

'5000' and '5005' were designations for different wire gauges (actual PN#s).

The 'D' in TFL5000D, means that this amp is a US Domestic amp model with a USA 110v power transformer.

The 'X' in TFL5000X is the model number for European Exported amps assembled with 220v/230v transformers.

Hope this helps...

cheers!

Cool! Wonder why the TFL seems to only associated with the Showman and Bandmaster Reverb? Never seen TFL name on Deluxe or Twin Reverbs.

But remember, back then, Teflon (Polytetrafluorethylene) was Cool, Sexy, Racy, Space Age, New Edge... sort of like CF is today. It had Marketing Value.

cheers!

The odd thing is the TFL-5000D I'm currently working on has push-back wires. Maybe, a hold over from previous year's stock supplies?

????

Beats me...

I was first told this by a guy who runs one of the best Vintage Guitar/Gear shops in the Country. He's sold guitars to Geo. Harrison, Keefer, Joe Walsh, among others.

I later read the same thing in an old book about Fender Amps (which Willie recommended).

I'll see if I can find the source.

cheers!
