Thank you, everyone for your input. Arjay, your thought that the blackface panel was replaced with a silverface panel is an interesting idea. It seems the most probable, given all the clues that it is a blackface Princeton Reverb.
I haven't removed the back panel to check the serial number (because I didn't realize that's where to look- thank you!), so I'll do that. I'm reluctant to check the pot codes. I am dangerous with a wrench.
My interest in dating the amp is primarily curiosity. I have no intention of selling it, and my son will likely inherit it and the rest of my guitar/amp collection, hopefully many years from now. :)
But it was an enigma for me, as the clues were pointing in different directions, and it's fun to figure it out.
I don't think I would ever replace the grill cloth with silverface grill cloth. I prefer the blackface grill, and given the evidence that it really is a blackface, if I changed anything, it would be the panel- but in all likelihood, I'll just leave it as is- a curious oddity.
I will very much enjoy the amp, as you all have suggested. And thank you again.

Tim, if you ever happen to pull the chassis out be sure to look for an assembly date ink-stamped inside near the power transformer. It will provide an unambiguous clue as to the age of your amp. To confirm that the chassis and the cabinet belong together, you'll likely find a date stamped on the lower inside edge of the box. If it corresponds closely to the chassis build date you'll know that the amp is for the most part unmolested.

The serial number is A 17026, and per my research, that indicates it is a 1967.
Were silverface Princeton Reverbs sold in 1967?
It is either a blackface re-badged as a silverface, or it is a transitional amp (perhaps near the end of the blackface run, and Fender had the blackface chassis but only silverface panels?). Who knows. But at least now I have a very good idea of what I acquired.
Arjay- I'll do that. I saw that inkstamp on the chassis, but didn't write it down.
Again, many thanks to all.

BTW... did the amp come with a GZ34/5AR4 rectifier? I have a PR that has OEM Mullard GZ34. It has better vibrato/tremolo EFX than the 5U4GB driven ones. The two types of rectifiers are interchangeable in this amp (same PT --- 125P1B).

I love PR's. You have a great little amp, there! :D  :D

Yes, I believe I have the exact same tube. It is a Mullard.
I could be wrong, but it's my impression (based on the website referenced in my original post) that the AA764 was the last circuit used in the blackface PR.
However- I know nothing. I'm not kidding. Amps amaze me. And electricity has always befuddled me- the science of it is so counter intuitive to me.
I'm just getting to know the amp. I went to the Fender tweeds to get some dirt, and now I guess I've come full circle and gone back to the surf amp. Change is a good thing. :)
