I decided to try to verify the date code of what I believe to be a 1956 Champ amp. The code stamped on the black transformer is "NYT 5396" and the smaller one reads "0WT775". I hope this helps as I cannot seem to find any information or just am not looking in the right places. Thanks.

You prolly have a Triad made transformer. Triad often didn't follow EIA guidelines for dating their products. Esp in the 1940-50's. Do you have a photo of it? Does it look like this one?

Here they are. I have pictures of the circuits if needed as well, though I doubt that will help here.

I am thinking this is older than a 56. They started using tweed covering in '52. This looks more like 50/51 if the chassis is original to the cab. I had a '54 wide panel tweed that looked exactly like this chassis with the "Champion 600" but it had tweed covering.

My guess is the guts of this amp are hard wired right onto the chassis, no tag board mounted circuit, correct?

The Triads numbering scheme doesn't seem to follow the EIA guidelines for sure, hopefully Beemer can make heads or tales.

My guess is Triad. I believe there will be no Fender stock number or EIA codes. Fender used shelf stock trannies to build low end amps, at this time. Leo just ordered a bunch of military surplus or plain commercial items to make these amps, in those early days of 1947-1952.

BTW... Triad made nice iron, in those days.

Just my wag...
