I moved my head to another room for a few days, then plugged it back in and now I have a dead vibrato channel, and the normal channel works on for a while until a motorboat noise creeps in.

Hopefully this is a preamp tube: Any idea which of the preamp tubes is more likely to be the culprit if it is a tube issue?

I tried a new cable, cab, guitar and speaker cable with he same results.

Motorboating indicates that maybe the main filtering caps are drying out and not filtering as well.

How old are they?

I'm not sure since the amp is modded (pre CBS blackface spec, power cord added and 8 and 16 ohm outputs) and I only got it a few months ago. I changed one preamp tube and that improved it. I get the channel working but if I flip the bright switch a scratchy noise kicks in. I didnt get any further than that.

I did a clip while I had it running...

A little dark because I was using the neck pickup.

I'l start swapping out tubes to see if the bright switch engaged improves. There are no volume drops or strange sounds, until I hit the bright switch, and then its a scratchy hissing sound.

Also: What is the cheapest way to mod a footswitch to enable the vibrato?

Just short the two wires from a RCA connector plug in the vibrato input jack .

Vibrato need a close contact between negative and positive at the plug to work
