An older Jensen and a re-cone is well worth the $. Most of the late 50's/early 60's P12's have "petrified" cones and need a re-cone. Don't be afraid of the black organ pulls. I recently sent a 1960 P12Q to Dusty (DSR Audio) and it's a great speaker, he does a great job. 60's C12N's/NA's are good as well. The most recent for me was a '66 Fender/Jensen C12NA for $60 on Craigslist so they're out there. Some will disagree but for me, these are investments - they don't make these anymore and I've yet to be disappointed as with some other new production purchases, and that includes fully broke-in $200 - 250+ speakers.

I just received a 417 8h from Great Plains Audio (old Altec Lansing crew). I still have to remove the speaker from my 1976 silver face DR, and then install the 417. Looking forward to hearing how it sounds.

If I'm correct, I believe the "r" would designate it as a 12 or 15 watt speaker. If they are 16 ohm and you run them as a set in parallel, you should be ok. If they are 8 ohm and you run a single speaker, disaster awaits.

Hope this helps.
