Photos of Jerry's Showman Reverb. I replaced OEM sockets (which were bad) with ceramic ones carried by Ruby Tubes. Needed to used these, as they were the only ones that would fit SF era 1-inch diameter punched holes in the chassis.

Notice heat damage.

Replaced with ceramic sockets carried by Angela. Seem to be made better. Esp solder tangs and socket receptor. Using 1k-ohm Mills, 5-watt wire-wound resistors as screen grid resistors.

Wiring completed to sockets. Doghouse caps & resistors rechecked. Test drive tomorrow.

That's some really excellent work there.

Any particular reason for the parallel bias filter caps, or just using what you had on hand?

Regards,
vinyl

Great work, lovely amp. That OT reminds me on my Super Reverb's OT .. it produces a huge tone. :D

Not trying to steal the thread but what benefits do you get from upgrading the OT?

I'm also in agreement with your work quality. 8)

Clean amp and some nice work there. I hope the Showman's owner is enjoying it! ;)

T2,

This is my amp. BMW2002Ti repaired it back in April 2013. Worked great until recently, started blowing fuses so he took it back in to repair.

BMW2002Ti does amazing work and I know I'll be 100% satisfied.

Jerry

Thanks! No the original PT was blown.

Now, no fuse issues. But, a new 120Hz hum.

The plot thickens...

Gotcha. I thought it was an upgrade for better sound purposes and wasn't sure what that would do. Thanks

I was referring to OT, not PT. I believe that the pictured OT is original to the amp thus my comment.

Once again - nice amp, I played one many years ago and was all smiles ..

Sorry. yes the output tranny in original.

Story with the hum. No hum with only 6L6GC's. Hum with PI (12AT7). Any 12AT7. Checking lead dressing. Plate voltages, today.
