Hi,
I just picked up what i believe is a 67/68 Fender Bassman. This is my first vintage amp and I am in need of some help identify the modifications. I have posted some pictures of the wiring below. Does everything look stock other than the added 3 prong outlet added? Thanks for your help.

Nice amp , 1967 transformers.

One filter cap , the blue one in the "dog house" is new . Other caps may need to be replace too if you want to gig with the amp ; more reliable .
Look to find a know qualified tech .

Best is to replace them all ; more reliable amp , more punch and better tone, if caps are out of range and dry . You can use the amp with no problem now.

Amp look to me 99,9 % original . Only 2 resistors , the "greys" one on 6L6's socket may be new . I'm not sure and one resistor on bias power supply , not sure about this one too.

Caution ; check fuse in the back , many people put a wrong fuse and you can damage the amp . Put a 2 amperes Slow Blow only .

Thanks for the reply. My problem now is that it will not turn on. When I plug it in the and switch the amp on nothing happens no light, nothing. What would be the best way to diagnose the issue?

Check the fuse before.

Not with you eyes , need a meter or best put a new one if no meter .

Thanks I am going to pickup a few. I am sure they are always good to have around.

If I wanted to pick a few up today locally at Radio Shack, would this be the correct one?

Warning Non-expert opinion below...

Looks like somebody was at the main power transformer and rectifier board at some point, maybe the same time the blue Atom filter cap was added. Also the diodes in the rectifier look nasty...

Bench time with a good tech should resolve it simply and cheaply.

Congrats on the Amp, should be nice once it gets running.

Got the amp to power in. Was just a fuse although the previous fuse was the wrong voltage. Thanks for the tips.

So when I posted the message before I only turned it on for a few seconds and then turned it off.

Now I have discovered that if leave the amp turned on for 15 seconds the fuse will blow everytime. I've replaced the fuse again, turned the amp on, and the fuse blows. The amp is really unusable at this point.

I think I am going to need to take it to a tech.

You can do another test ; remove the two 6L6 tubes and power amp ON with a good fuse .

If fuse don't blow you need two new 6L6's .

If you go to see a tech, be sure it is a qualified one if you don't want to loose your money and worse have your amp damaged.
