hi! all,

i totaly agree, my friend wants to do a complete cap and resistor job on the amp.

I will be doing that in a couple of weeks from now!.
I just recently (today!) ordered a re-tube set from eurotube.com and also ordered a bias probe at the same time. So i will be over hauling his amp completly and i will take some pics of the chassis for reference and i will post them here for you guys to see!.

Regards!

Jeanpierre,

I'm sure you already know this, but change the cap(s) in the bias power supply, too.

Photos of final re-do would be nice.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the help Guy's.

Seem's like i'm going have to do alot of re-work on this amp but for me its not that bad after all since i have lots of time since i'm retired so its not a big problem for me.

My friend is willing to spend a few extra bucks but i think its worth it.

regards,

jean-pierre

Jean-Pierre, good luck with the fix. I posted two photos of a 1968 silverface Bassman (AB165), whose main power caps & resistors, bias cap, diode and resistor, plus the main power supply diodes were replaced.

:D

Thanks for the Pics, i think i can get those at Eurotubes, i already ordered the re-tube kit and the bias probes.

My friends amp is a 1972 silverface so that means 42 years old , so i think a cap job would'nt hurt it! i don't know what the results would be but changing those High voltage caps is the correct thing to do!.

I will take before/after pics for reference and i will post them here.

regards.

Hello everyone,

Well i've just received on saturday the Retube kit and the bias pro one from Eurotubes.

They are amazing! service > excellent! and excellent quality product (bias Probe with dual lcd display) worth every penny! and all the pertinent info on the tubes.

my friend will be bringing his fender amp this week so i will be able to start working to get this little baby in tiptop shape! i am planning on replacing all the caps and if any resistors that are out of specs.

You guy's have given me lots of tips and info and i thankyou all for your help!, i will keep you posted during this restoration process! and the results.

Cheers!!
