Have a few leaking caps on my 61 concert. With so many choices out there, what is a recommended seller and brand of caps to go with? Ill get pics when I can, Its missing the rear panels, but it look pretty original. Cracks and hums randomly when I play it so its time to change some components.

Bought it a few weeks ago from an old man who had it in his attic. payed 150 bucks.....I didnt know much about it when i got it and he never used it, heck of a steal

Without pictures of the alleged amp, it's difficult to make recommendations. :o

OK, F&T are about the best available.

But yeah, you should post pics. :!:

Please replace those 'lytic caps (esp those under the doghouse), with as close as possible mfd/voltage rated F&T's. the two 8mfd/150VDC caps on the board with the diodes are for the bias supply. I'd replace them with a single 100mfd/100VDC cap. Please note polarity of those bias supply caps.

The dual bypass caps on the main circuit boards can be replaced with either dual 25/25mfd @ 25VDC F&T or two single 25mfd at 50VDC Sprague ATOMS.

Those are the original caps. One shows definite signs of leakage. Keep the old caps in a plastic bag --- for when you go to sell the amp. They are desired items for amp collectors.

ive been pricing them out and i can barely read the schematic i found online. I also checked the disc caps and some are still within tolerance but a few arent. I planned on saving the old caps and replacing them with same value caps. ive found most of them. Made an excell spreadsheet to keep track.....unless anyone here has a parts list and a better schematic/layout that is readable.

Replaced the caps and normal channel sounds great, vibrato channel never worked before cap replacement. still no sound out of vib channel. IDK what the culprit is.

Screamin, V2,V3,V4, and V5 need to be fully functional. The half used tube is a 12AX7(V4) in the vibrato section. So yeah, I'm thinkin' it's just a tube. Good Hunting! Art
