Wondering about a reverb tank. That might be what the extra screw holes were for. And cable clamps.

there were a couple of holes each side of where the reverb tank goes ... probably because people took it out before and screwed it back on somewhere near to were it was w/o worrying too much about the holes that were already there ... also there were a few holes at either side wall - those might infact have been for cable clamps (or whatever else people might have thought useful to attach there).

Yeah your theory about the reverb tank sounds right or maybe it was replaced and there was a size difference. Nice progress your making have you got your tolex yet? Hoping to see the progress you are making. You sure have done quite a bit of research on this, keep it up, you may end up being "THE" 140 expert!

Well, I guess I meanwhile know all one could possibly know about an amp that no one knows ... I sent pics to various vintage fender repair shops and from the replies I received it seems as though what I have there is infact stock - the cab as well as the amp (even though not one single of those shops ever had a 140 in their hands).

I do not have the tolex yet ... unfortunately, for me it's kinda like scratching pennies from the back of my pockets to be able to afford all the bits and pieces that I need ... that's what makes progress fairly slow ... so next up is glazing the inside of the cab, once that's done I will re-tolex the cab, and finally take care of the tubes and electronics ...

Takes time to get there but I will get there eventually!

Matt

I understand about the pennies no worries there. Each project takes on a life of it's own and some happen faster than others. Just make sure to keep us updated as it does progress.
