A friend of mine has a Fender Bassman Amp. He wants to sell it and I am wondering roughly what it is worth and also what year it is.

The info I have on the amp is:

Fender Bassman 165
Production # 37
Serial # f082266
The front says patent for 66. There is some minor damage (loose pot and needs a new powercord) but it still works fine and is quite a monster of an amp

Any info on this amp in general would be much appreciated

Never heard of a Bassman 165. Post some pics front and back and we might be able to give you a much better run down on what you have.

+1 Beemer...Could be, but we could also "What if" this one for quite a while, hence my asking for photos. The production #37 could be from the tube chart, along with the 165, the front panel patent 66 could be...or...see my meaning? Would really like to help the guy out, but we need more info and a pic or two.

Looks to be a 66 or 67 Blackface Bassman. These are great guitar amps despite their name. Looks like it could use a thorough clean up and a check up at a good amp tech. There are a couple different amp refurbs on the forum here, just do a search and you find some good ones with tips on how to clean, what to use, etc.

I too have one of these Blackface Bassmans, mine is a '66 and sounds fantastic. I love it! Took me a month or so to get it up and running correctly, but well worth it! Here is a couple pics of it.

Tell your friend to clean it up enjoy it and depending on where you are, expect it to be worth around $1200 to $1600 (if you also have the matching 2x12 cab) for a pristine model.
