Hi, all again

Well I was browsing my local listings and noticed that a 63' bassman was for sale.

http://www.kijiji.ca/v-amp-pedal/mississauga-peel-region/1963-blonde-fender-bassman/1005271168?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true

I talked with the seller and he say caps have been done recently and the tubes are up to date (whatever that exactly means).

My only problem is that he is asking 2800 for it. Now it has been a while since I've purchased a vintage fender amp but what is the going rate for these? Have they increased to this much?

Also the speakers are replacements Weber 12f150, but has the original oxfords which need a recone.

Thanks for your help

$2800 is a bit optimistic IMO.

I'm betting the seller will accept $2400 but I wouldn't tender such an offer without playing the amp and inspecting it first-hand.

remstar, does he have receipt for cap job? Or photos of the "fixes?"

+1 and it better have the original transformers, some nice original Jensen's and be in dead mint shape and that one doesn't appear to be from the pic.

I wouldn't count on the OEM drivers being Jensen. More likely, Oxford's 12M6. Vintage C12N's or P12N's would be the way to go though.

You might be correct, either way for that amount of scratch...they BETTER be C12N's or P12N's!

Actually the pre-65 Oxford's sounded pretty righteous and the seller did indicate that the amp's original speakers had been "stored" and a pair of Weber's installed in their stead. The OEM speakers require a re-cone but the deal might nonetheless still be appealing, given some adjustment to the price.
