Very interesting how Fender wired the 6V6GT sockets, in this amp. Not the usual pin 1 to pin 5 grid stopper. But, rather the resistor is place between pin 5 & 6. No screen resistors on the socket, but relying on the 5K-ohm resistor in the power rail to drop the voltage onto the screens.

Are you going to run two heater lines to each 6V6GT? The original layout seemed to have one heater (pin #2) grounded to the chassis. And only pin #7 coming from the lamp. I'd imagine that Hoffman lifted both heater lines off the chassis, to help reduce hum.

Thanks, for the great photos! :D
I plan to run two heater lines.

My PT arrived and it is in and the Octals are all wired. I think my next progression will be to get the pots wired and the jacks.

That PT is a monster with all the ability to wire for different line voltage lower voltage taps for Bias. Mag comp 40-18028.

I really made progress today. Stuck at it and the amp is together and working great. Not a problem with it at all. Did the Lightbulb Limiter and checked the voltages at the 3 filters. Then I plugged in and played. Took a break and went back out and put the Chassis in the Amp Cab.

Great tone , nice breakup! It was a little brittle with the JJ 6V6 at 1st so I put in a pair of GE 6V6 and what a difference. I only use JJ crap at 1st power up. Don't want to risk ruining my good tubes.

I tried a 5Y3 and a 5U4GB to see what the voltage differences were. 1st Cap was 393 with 5Y3 and 408 with the 5U4. The 5V winding is rated 3A so I can use either. I have taps for lower voltage if I want.

Very nice work Cap! I might have missed is somewhere in the post...what does the knob next to the speaker input jack do?

Perhaps a global feedback controller?

I believe it's an impedance selector to switch between the multiple secondary taps at the O/T.

No sweat, Cap47. Tony dropped by for a visit a couple of weeks ago, with a 12 Y/O bottle of Glenlivet in hand.

He's paid in full.

Hell of a visit it was too! As good at photography as Arjay is, his collection is most impressive in person! Each amp looks like he just brought it home from the music store!

Really enjoyed the '69 Crown Royal too! Quite the special treat!

Indeed!

That's a very special bottle that I reserve for only my most honored friends.

Just a quick video. I should have recorded from the front I think.

Nice tone! If you record from front, you'll get a slightly better imaging and mid-to-high clarity.

:)
