The 2x12 cabinet is complete minus a few dodads. Sounds great with my 5e3 and Supersonic 60W.
I have been getting questions on what the back looks like so here it is

The 2x12 is populated with a V30 16 ohm made in England and a Eminence Private Jack 16. I am well pleased! On to getting my chassis parts to finish the 5E3. The cabinet for the 5E3 is done and waiting to be complete inside.

Awesome! Esp that cab. Are you going to put corner protectors on it? I find my cabs get more beating, when hauling about, than the head.

Tone must be something else. Have nay sound bites?

Thanks!

Yes I am but that will be in my next parts order. I might put together a recording.

I ordered the 5e3 chassis and sockets so I can drill for the mount to cabinet and so I can start assembling what parts I do have into the chassis. I have the board all ready to put in it and the jacks and pots, the power cord and wiring. I think all I need are knobs, switches, PT and OT to complete once I get my current order from Hoffman.

When the 5e3 is complete I can decide what to build next in a Head. With my 2x12 ext. cab I certainly don't need to build Combos anymore! I hope to take my 5e3 and 2x12 up North in August when I go to my 50th Reunion and visit some family and friends. Gotta make some heavy covers!

My Chassis and Sockets arrived and I drilled the mounting holes in the cabinet. Then I started drilling for my Rotary Ohm Switch and drilled and tapped for Board Standoffs and trial assembled those items in the Chassis. Getting closer now. I still need a few items but I have enough to start to put the Chassis together.

The Rotary Switch is a tight fit in the Chassis but it will work OK.

Installed a Classic Tone OT 40-18088 and wired secondaries and Rotary Switch to speaker jacks.
Ordered the ClassicTone PT 40-18028.

Nice job! Esp like those twisted wires. You use a drill bit to do that? Set at low speed. That's what I use.

:D

Ordered the rest of the parts I need to get the amp up and running. Can't wait to have it finished!
Switches, knobs, a missing jack I thought I had, pilot light housing, bulbs and amber jewels. That should get it going with what I already have or have on order.

Is the sandbox 5-watt resistor on the far right side of the board 270-ohm? Hard to tell from codes on the body. This is the cathode-tied resistor to the 6V6GT tubes, right?

Thanks!

Yes, 270 ohm.

I started wiring the power sockets and the Rectumfier. I put two 1n4007s on the rectifier terminals. Just piddling around today, work on it for 10 minutes and go back in the house then come out later and do a little more. :) Took some pics and I over lighted it.

Very interesting how Fender wired the 6V6GT sockets, in this amp. Not the usual pin 1 to pin 5 grid stopper. But, rather the resistor is place between pin 5 & 6. No screen resistors on the socket, but relying on the 5K-ohm resistor in the power rail to drop the voltage onto the screens.

Are you going to run two heater lines to each 6V6GT? The original layout seemed to have one heater (pin #2) grounded to the chassis. And only pin #7 coming from the lamp. I'd imagine that Hoffman lifted both heater lines off the chassis, to help reduce hum.

Thanks, for the great photos! :D
