I have ordered a complete 5E3 Amp Kit from mojotone with lacquered tweed cabinet. This will be my first build. I have been modding and fixing a few amps and an old RCA Stereo Combo from 1969 that needed Electrolytics Replaced. Glad I saved most of my records. Sounds great!
I feel I am up to the task. Put together a Lightbulb Limiter a year ago and I am confident I can do it. Can't wait for it to get here!

I will take pictures as I go and update in build progress. Wish me luck!

Which kit did you go with? Many good reviews on these kits.

Good luck! Photos of work-in-progress would be very nice.

I'm curious to see it progress as well.

5E3 Combo Tweed Lacquered 12" Full Kit Mojo 768SP OT 4,8,16 ohm and I ordered a 3 Pos Rotary Switch.

6V6 PTs I have a couple old 5U4GBs to try instead of GZ34. RCA and a Sylvania. I have RCA 6V6s Many vintage preamp except 12AY7. I will use jjs to prove out the build.

The standard-spec rectifier for a 5E3 Deluxe is the 5Y3GT -- did you plan to alter the kit's power supply?

Have a good build! It may be your first, but I can guarantee it won't be your last. A Tweed Deluxe is right up there with "apple pie and baseball".

Pratice soldering if you don't know how .

And take your time , stop when you are tire .

Check a re check ...your work.

The worst thing in building is if you plug it and don't work .

Work methodically and self-critique the work after each step. Redo any assembly that does not pass muster before proceeding to the next phase.

5V3-A - 5T - 5.0 - 3.0 - 42 - 415 - 550 - 5V3 reduced filament current
5V4-G/GA- 5L - 5.0 - 2.0 - 25 - 175 - 375 - octal 83-V
5W4-G/GT- 5T - 5.0 - 1.5 - 45 - 100 - 350 - low power 5Y3
5X4-G - 5Q - 5.0 - 3.0 - 58 - 225 - 450 - 5U4 diff pinout

5Y3-G/GT- 5T - 5.0 - 2.0 - 60 - 125 - 350 - octal 80

The Famp of a GZ34 is 1.9, 5Y3 is 2 and a 5U4 is 3, this may be what you are referring to. 5u4 would draw 1 more amp or would it be capable of handling 1 more amp? See this next clip I copied and it seemed to state that the GZ34 had more current surge and could be a problem to use:
A popular tube still being made is the 5AR4/GZ34. This is basically
an improved redesigned 5U4/5Y3 tube. It has a 1.9amp heater and plate
voltage and current similar to the 5U4 so it can be used in either
circuit. However it has a much lower voltage drop so care should
be used to be sure that the circuit can handle the extra current
surge. This tube is usually best used in a circuit that is designed
to handle the low voltage drop. The other potential problem with
this tube is that it has an internal connection on pin 1 which can
potentially cause problems with some circuits. Don't use this tube
unless you know that the circuit can handle it.

If the transformer is speced for a GZ34 seems a 5U4 would be fine because of current surge. The Kit comes with a jj GZ34 and they say aa 5U4 and a 5Y3 has less current surge if I am reading this right. From http://www.fourwater.com/files/fullrect.txt

I have done a lot of soldering. I don't foresee that it will be an issue but a bad joint can happen to anybody. The first time I plug it in will be with my Limiter to make sure there are no shorts. I have a couple good meters and Mini Grabbers for each and test leads. Good soldering Irons but not the higher end models, stuff I have used and feel comfortable with using. Soldering jig with clips and magnifier and good lighting on the magnifier and bench. All solder will be lead base instead of lead free crap.

My worst problem is as I have gotten older my eyes are not what they used to be so yes, I will be re-checking frequently on my close up work. I can still pass the eye test for driving but have trouble close up. I need a lighted eye piece to thread a needle and my shaky hands are another thing!

I just got off the phone with mojotone. I asked them if the 5E3 circuit they sell will support the use of a 5U4GB Rectifier Tube. Good news, yes it will without any modifications. Will not hurt the transformer. So my assumptions from my research were correct. My plans are still in place!
I also asked if it will support the use of 6L6 tubes. With an adjustable Bias circuit, yes. I do not have intentions of using 6L6 but who knows in the future.

6L6 will not give you more power , only more clean , no or less breakup .

If heater voltage reading is 6 volts or more , yes the Power Transformer is powerfull enough to put 6L6

If the quest is for more power, you'll need beefier iron for both power supply and output stage. In that instance I'd just recommend starting with a 5F4 Super or 5E5 Pro Amp kit.
