I have a Fender Deluxe Amplifier ( Serial #CE 0369) that I acquired in excellent cosmetic condition. I sent it of the Austin Tone Works for a complete overhaul...down to even replacing the 2-prong power cord with 3-prong and new handle. They rebuilt everything in accordance with one original they had in the shop. It sounds incredible...simply beautiful. This was my dream amp until the Victoria Regal II hit the street (thanks Mike) and now I'm hooked on the beautiful reverb/tremelo that his previous amps lacked. The 15" speaker looked like overkill but is unquestionable the most versatile amp I have ever owned. I was curious just how much my Fender is worth. I waited a long time and went through a lot of $$$ to get it up and running so I don't plan to sell however I was curious what this would fetch on the market. I've seen the same amps on E-Bay is "D-" condition go for 3K or more. My guess is mine (comparatively) is best describes as "B+" give or take. Any guesses? My first time here so please be gentle! Peace, MLS

Brownface 6G3's can go anywhere from $1750 to $2250 on the secondary market. Non-verb blackface Deluxe's are worth slightly less -- usually $1400 to $1800, contingent upon condition and how reasonable the seller is willing to be. The latter commands a slight premium if it's a pre-CBS model.

My Fender amp (great as it is) will go for sale . My kids will sell it on E-BAY when I croak. I Know at a personal level what it's worth (museum piece) but the fair market value is what I'm looking for. Keep in mind I'm retiring son and my instruments/amps, etc. have some holistic value. That's all. I am not in my lifetime selling this amplifier. I just want some strait dope from people in the know. I live in a musician's desert and the so-called pros say 'put on on Craig's List' or some something like that. A dealer in Pensacola want's $50.00 just to appraise it. It's priceless to me but what value monetarily is it worth? That's all. I'm not selling it. I just need to know what this amplifier is worth. Peace.

BTW, it's a tweed, original cosmetically. I haven't seen one out there even close.

Figure $2500 at a minimum for an original 5E3. Really pristine examples can go for double that.

Post some detailed pics of it here and we'll take a critical look and see what it's really worth.

And forget C/L......that's nowheresville as far as getting fair market value for a vintage amp. Most who frequent that venue expect to pay trailer-trash prices for a museum-grade piece.

Craigslist and the like can be home to bottom dwellers, but don't discount it entirely for buying purposes; I got my 65 Bandmaster and Tremolux cabs for a song and with a little work, they're good as new...

True.

I found my near-mint '64 Vibroverb via C/L. But such deals are few and far between.

The saving grace is, listing is free. But on the flipside, you have to be prepared to deal with shammers, scammers, tire-kickers, and jerk-offs of every stripe imaginable.

agreed Arjay. that's why I sell only on eBay, demand PayPal, and ship UPS - no local pickup.
