If money is tight might I suggest Wharehouse speakers. Good quality speakers. A friend of mine just replaced the 12 in his Deluxe Reverb with one of their G12C, 75 watts. Sounds close to a Jensen C12N if you like a vintage vibe to your Concert. He swears by these and I was impressed with the tones he got with it, it had a nice crisp top end.

+1

I always thought the Concert Amp (as well as the "30" and "75" amps) needed a little kick in the HF department. They're not near as bright and shiny as their blackface cosmetics would suggest -- they're closer to the Mesa-Boogie's that they were intended to emulate. The Warehouse G12C would likely provide the necessary boost to the highs, as would the Emi Texas Heat.

I usually play on the bridge p'up with the treble all the way up, same on the amp - treble up there. Usually the bass is dialed way back, too, so HF aren't usually in short supply, especially with that presence knob on board!
I dropped an Emi The Governor in there tonight and am really pleased. Sounds like a grown man's amp now, ha. Very authoritative sound to it. Can't wait to lug it to practice and let it strut a bit....

OK, here's another question... The Emi Redcoat is great, but I wanted to add more speakers through the extension cab plug. I found a bad@ss '70s Ampeg V4 4x12 (8 ohms). Plugged it in and the signal coming through the extension output seems really quiet. I plugged the 412 into the normal output and it's LOUD! When both the onboard speaker and the 4x12 are both going, I can hear the big cab, but the single 12" is easily more loud in the mix. Is something up with that output or is there any adjustment?
Regardless, it's pretty cool and if nothing more, it gets the Concert up in your face.

Some manual rewiring is required to efficiently run the type of loads you wish to use.

Here's the schematic......

Apparently this amp pre-dates contemporary equipment fitted with built-in output impedance selectors. You'll need to reconfigure yours accordingly.

Thanks Arjay, but I'm a little confused. The jack is labeled 8ohm minimum. Would a cab with another ohm rating have worked better, or should I just run the cab directly off the main jack and not try to incorporate both the cab and the onboard driver? Cheers!

ARG! I just read that you're never supposed to run that external jack without the main speaker plugged in! I only tested it for a moment or so - I hope I didn't seriously mess up the amp :(

Doubtful......those Rivera-era amps were built pretty stout, much like the blackfaces of Fender's "golden age".

+1...They certainly are, and my 2x10 version never really needed additional cabs to cut through the mix of all but the loudest bands. You might consider a more efficient speaker?
