I feel like there should be a 12 step program for this addiction...

You mean GAS? Gear Acquisition Syndrome? If there's a cure, not sure I want it…

I do end up selling old gear (non Fender) that I haven't used for 2 years or more - things like shorted out pickups from an MPC Electra guitar, pedals I bought once and will never use again, or extra car parts that have been sitting in the garage for 4+ years. Was able to upgrade our band's PA the same way. Budgeting a certain amount per year also helps to keep things in check. This year, my car needed a transmission rebuild, so the new old amp money went to that...

In a manner of speaking, it is. Unchecked, such addiction usually produces a vast collection of gear that may require so much additional floor space in one's home that rehabilitation and recovery is impossible.

You mean like having to put an addition on your home to house a vast collection?

Wow! Looking at that photo makes me nervous. I hope you don't live near a fault zone.

It's Florida.

The biggest concern there is Jeb Bush.

Cue up Dire Straits "Twistin By The Pool…"

And yes, I'm nervous too about all those amps that close to the edge.

I don't see it as any more hazardous than this staged catalog pic......
